Needs: responsive monitor enough for occasional FPS gaming. But contrasts, black levels and colors are equally if not more important. Price: Up to about 260€.
If you could comment on every monitor that would be great :D

Samsungs:

P2450H, B2430H = pretty equal (but is one 2ms and the other 5ms or just different measuring?)

BX2440 = haven't found a decent review - bout the same as the ones above?

P2470H = The digitalversus review says it's got good colors but the Face-off comparison images shows it as pretty bad, barely at 3 deltaE even after calibr. Very confusing.

2494HM = read it's not good for fps games. Can you confirm?

P2370 = 23 inch only. But is its performance better than the ones above?

XL2370 - One expert review said the "mega/dynamic contrast mode almost gives you a headache (and without that mode it loses its value). is this a problem (or a mode only available) for just this screen?
- How does xl2370 compare to p2370 and the samsung ones? Noticeably better?
- Is there a '24 inch version' of this one or one coming up? 23 sounds small especially being 16:9.

And the three other ones I don't know AT ALL how to compare to the samsungs:

Benq V2410T

ASUS VW246H (glossy screen which I don't prefer, so unless it's better I drop this one)

ASUS VE248H (can't find tests at all)

And the odd ones:

LG W2453TQ-PF = no reviews, but crappy eh?

Dell ST2410 = a bit expensive here and just 2 years warranty here. But good?

BenQ EW2420 = considered it for a long time but the response time is likely too low (even if I rarely play fast FPS games). Is it really that much better even after calibrating the TF:s?

There are so many monitors out there it's a nightmare, but any good monitors missing from my list? I'm not in a hurry, planning to buy in January/February so can wait for something coming out soon. Any 16:10 monitors out there worth the price?

The only 16:10 near your budget is the HP ZR24w, but it's a fair bit over at around £300+. The next one up from that is the Dell U2410 but that's upwards of £450! I just bought the HP myself because I wanted that aspect ratio and there was really nothing else in that price bracket (at least for an IPS panel). 1920x1200 is only really found in the 'prosumer'/professional price bracket now, cheaper displays used 16:9 because it's a) cheaper to make b) can be marketed as 'Full HD' to go with the TVs. 23" or 23.6" seems to be far more common than 24" but I'm not really sure why that is. It's not massively different.

If you want good image quality, colours e.t.c and gaming is a secondary thing then you really should be looking at a responsive IPS panel, as they're getting quite affordable now (see that U2311H thread!) I haven't tried any of the monitors you listed so I can't help you pick, sorry!

The Samsung P2450H is a great monitor, takes a bit of fine tuning in the settings but the picture is fantastic when watching both movies and playing games.
Only thing about that monitor though is if you look closely at the corners/edges of the screen you can see the reflections of whatever is on the screen but tbh i never notice it when gaming, other than that i cant fault it.

Thanks.
I fear the IPS monitors you mentioned are too far from what I'm willing to pay.

Has anybody got any comments on the other monitors or on my questions? P2450H is one of my most likely choices, but really would like to know how it compares to the other ones.

As mentioned above the Dell U2311H is well worth a look. It is uses an E-IPS panel so the image quality is very good and it still handles fast moving images (like games) well - here is an in-depth review.

It is a bit above your budget - but imho it is worth it for the extra quality.

Can't find that Dell monitor here, and it is indeed a bit above my max budget.

So right now I'm leaning towards one of the P2450H, B2430H (looks being the deciding factor since I assume they're quite the same).

But it still would be nice to know how they compare to the Samsung XL2370 or the Benq V2410T for example... :)
