caring about your car when a simple 30 minutes in public produces this.

dsc05029s.jpg

1/2 full car park at the cricket pavillion in the village for only 30mins whilst I got my haircut in the salon about 100m away aorund the corner.

:mad::mad::mad::mad:

The only car near was 2/3 spaces away. Does this look like a car has reversed across the front whilst reversing out of a space, or a possible kicking? That is dirt aroudn teh large area and could be off a shoe but more likely a tire.

Doesn't matter anyway, might as well just get a new front bumper as it has a scuff on one side down to the previous owner and is now a bit broken at the bottom. Expensive haircut :/

I feel your pain.

I have had 2 cars damaged by other people being idiots. It properly depresses you when you look after your car all for a split second of stupidity from someone else to ruin it.

Tbh, if its dirt it could be off any part of a car at the moment. Most cars are covered in muck from the whether so could have been a bumper or anything. Im assuming no detail were left and nobody saw anything?

Finally I get to feel the pain that many others like yourself have done :(

No details, there were quite a number of cars in the car park compared to normal (mothers meeting/mummy aerobics in pavillion maybe), but as ever I parked well away from anyone.

Weird thing is that the paint has really splintered, especially behind the number plate. if the was done by a car then it would have been a nigh on 90 degrees to my front end when doing this.

No details of course :)

you went to a salon and got a haircut?? rofl

Took that many hours for someone to respond to that, I am disapoint!

In my village and costs £13, pretty much less than anywhere else I have tried, gives me a better cut than anywhere else and the ladies are pretty ;)

any CCTV?

Nope, nothing. Was considering a roadhawk the other week, maybe an idea now.

Will look at repairing the bumper myself, already have a special can of NH-0 paint (with a fancy spray nozzel to mimmick a proper spray gun), laquer, primer and plenty of wet n dry. No point in spending loads on making it look perfect as **** happens and will probably happen again.

Something similar happened to my Teg in the spring (although not as bad as that). TGM do some great spray rates

Wasn't at the meet was it ? :p

Yup rates are good, but even their spraying isn't perfect ;)

I can't see you spending hours and hours doing it yourself and probably having it flake off at a later date is going to be any better than the what? £50-100 a backstreet bodyshop will charge you if you take the stripped bumper into them?

No confidence in my prep and spray ability :p

It's a fair point though, I could probably prep it myself and get a bodyshop to give it a cheaky spray. Certainly don't intend on travelling many miles and leaving the car away somewhere as it is only a front bumper and it will get chips once she hits the track next year.

I've seen many people attempt it, and it isn't the prep that is so much of an issue.

The issue is curing, especially in the winter. At least at a bodyshop it'll get a low temp bake.

Hairdrier in one hand for pre-bake then heat gun in the other for main bake + a steady arm :p

Will get some prices together then depending on what I feel like spending, will either touch it up or mess around myself. Most likely the touch up route with the money and time spent on teh car recently, plus new alarm being fitted next week too which means $$$$

I am now the proud owner of a similar scuff along the corner of my bumper after some moron who shouldn't be allowed out without those child harness things, let alone left in charge of a vehicle, managed to rub along the front of it.

No details left or anything, but to be fair, if they are so braindead that they can hit a stationary car, they probably didn't even realise they hit anything at all.

Stick it in and get it done, its too much all that DIY spraying :)

I cringed when I saw the pic, gutted for you, my new job involves leaving my car exposed as moron prey after five years of parking in a private car park, not looking forward to that at all

Nobody breaking one on ebay or forums with an intact bumper? Might be cheaper to find a decent replacement.

Oh and +1 on the local village salon with the fitties. £10 and an eye full plus some decent conversation too. Shame they don't do 'extras'.

Gutted! I feel for you bro, first time I took the car to work some silly bint scratched my door with her handbag (no where near as bad as that!!) and I felt absolutely terrible.

Then another silly bint reversed into my alloy 3 weeks after I got them refurbished :( (It's always women!)

The pain gets less the more times it happens, I agree with the thread title... why even bother!

i expected salons from smart car owners but not a proper type R driver ;)

bad news with the car though. i hate the general public's lack of consideration for other people's stuff
