Hi all, I'm building a new pc and I'm terrible with psu's. So below are the parts that I'm gettin.

CM storm sniper case
Asus P8P67 PRO Intel P67 B3
Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz
Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache
Sony DVD-ROM
Corsair Hydro H70 CPU WaterCooler
Corsair Airflow Dual-Channel Fan
Windows 7 pro 64bit

MSI GeForce GTX 460 Cyclone 1024MB GDDR5 but will be going SLI later, or I may just buy a 570, not sure on gfx just yet

So with these in mind what would be a good psu in wattage. I'm lookin closely at the coolermaster silent pro gold series

Thanks

You're looking at about 510W (according to Anandtech) max for either of those graphics configs.

If you want to have the PSU for a long period of time I'd probably recommend 550-650, depends how safe you want to be. I'd probably go for around about 650

I've got the Coolermaster Silent Pro 850W with SLI 460's and am very happy with it.

I had a 600W OCZ ModXStream Pro before and that couldn't cope with two OC'd cards and a CPU at 4GHz.

Hmm I am still thinkin about SLI 460s or just going for this:

Says it has lower power consumption that the 480s and then i would prob go with a Coolermaster Silent Pro Gold 700W Power Supply although the antec that stulid suggested looked good also. Ive never done SLI and so Im not sure if a techno noob like me would be able to install it without messing up my rig

SLI is foolproof.

You put the second card in your rig, connect the two cards with the SLI bridge, and next time you boot up Windows tells you your PC is now SLI capable. All you have to do then is open nVidia control panel and enable it with one click. :)

Having said that, the 580 is an awesome card if you've got the readies.

Edit: Too slow :(
