About a week ago i purchased a Dell XPS 15.6" off the outlet. Now when buying off the outlet it doesnt list what graphics your going to get so its pot luck.

Fired it up this evening to find its got a 2GB GT435M fitted!!

Bargain of the century?

i7 740 1.7Ghz
4GB Ram
500Gb 7200 HDD
2GB Nvidia GT435M

Grand sum of £530 :D

No i didnt and theres nothing wrong with the display

I just didn't like it.

Hard to explain but its as if the screen size was too large for the resolution. I've since purchased a 13.3" laptop with a 1366x768 and its perfect.

I wasn't impressed with the quality either. Dell seem to use panels from three manufacturers and its hit and miss what you get.

Got mine yesterday, I got an i7 machine as well, with 8gb or RAM and the HD screen and Blu-Ray player for a shade over £800. Very pleased with it. I assume I have the same graphics card as you but tbh haven't checked! Mine also has one of the design cases with a skull on it - not very keen on that but never mind! It has bluetooth built in as well which is a nice extra!

Absolute nonsense that. Had dell laptops for over 8 years. Rock solid every one of them.

Agree that they are solid bits of kit, I'd happily recommend Dell over most others.
My only irk with Dells is that the hinges seem to wear fairly quickly. Happens to pretty much all laptops from what I've seen, but it always seems worse on Dells.

and HP have worst quality of hardware iirc. Hence the high fail rates.

HP poor quality? Based on what models?
I'd probably rate HP higher than Dell...

dell might be good quality but their customer service is complete and utter **** I would advise people to avoid them at all costs, I will only deal with ocuk from now on for all my future computer needs, as they have heard of customer service and are not a bunch of idiots with no sense of logic

I think it depends on who you talk to either way...

Got to agree my last 2 laptops have been Dells and they've been great bits of kit. Never had to deal with their CS though.

I would disagree with that. :)

When I bought my XPS M1530 back in 2008 ( for the pricely sum of £722!! ) the entire purchase process was completely free from hassle and painless, even though I changed the order after I had placed it for a better quality screen and larger hard drive.

I then had it for about 6 months and the internal DVDRW started making a noise and not recognising discs. One phone call later and the next day a Dell technician was sat in my kitchen removing the faulty drive, fitting a brand new one and bench testing it afterwards all under warranty.

Awesome service and since then I have purchased various other systems for myself and on behalf of others from Dell and have only praise for their kit and service.
