Undead creatures swarm, bullets fly, and gas stations explode in this action-packed first look at Slant Six Games' Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City.

It could be the fastest-paced Resident Evil game ever. Retelling the story of Resident Evil 2 and 3 from the perspective of an Umbrella Corporation clean-up squad is not only a genius move, it also allows for a degree of combat previous entries in the series haven't allowed for. Slow and steady does not win the race in Operation Raccoon City. Dodging, weaving, shooting, and stomping seem to be the order of the day.

It's hard not to compare the action I'm seeing with Valve's Left 4 Dead. It's got four-player co-op, a team of characters each with their own personalities and motivations, and hordes of bizarre mutant creatures to mow down.

Hopefully the inclusion of U.S. military forces as opponents on top of the infected creatures will mix things up.

As well as the ability to make sure Leon never makes it to Resident Evil 4.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is due out this winter for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

I'll buy it, but I am dissapoint Capcom .

I seriously hate the direction they're taking with this, Action games... I want to be scared again, Dead Space seems to be the current standard but that really didn't scare me enough.

Sparse ammo, ink cartridges and slow moving zombies yes please.

It could be good, but if they are going to make games like this then they should drop the Resident Evil name before they remove the series any further from it's original roots.

I think this looks like it might be quite good, and lets face it, after the tired old formula of Resi 5 things could do with a shake up.

All i want is remakes of res 1,2&3 and i'll be happy. I really don't like direction Capcom are taking the series.

Though this looks like it could be some mindless fun, that is something i don't want. I want the same things as Sinny, the same things that made me crap my pants after the dog jumped through the window on the first one, The great setting, story and good characters of the second.

I want old school resi :(

Well this game is being made by the same developers who did the SOCOM games for the PSP, so technically, this goes to "spin-off" territory. Capcom themselves are busy with the 3DS games, especially with Revelations.

It certainly is an interesting take for the Resident Evil universe, and this may perhaps be a much more action-packed "Outbreak" type of game.

That video certainly screamed 'spin-off' to me.
Infact it didn't really even have a proper Resident Evil feel and the font used for the logo even seemed a bit off.

Yeah the fact that you have to save or kill Leon depending on which side you play, as this is a squad multiplayer focused type of game is already evident of spin-off.

Revelations for the 3DS for now, is the new game that deals with the main canon of the story, since it is Chris and Jill before Resident Evil 5.

The traditional RE style of games ended after Code Veronica for me. After that it was more about the action than anything else, apart from Outbreak which would have been brilliant if there was actually a decent online service with enough people playing and a way to actually communicate. The way the game expected you to communicate with humans was laughable. :p

That looks awful :( I can't believe after all these years of hoping they'd do a Raccoon City game that it's ended up being this mindless action rubbish. That looks like a mid-90s shooter.
