Shift 2 Unleashed - Time Trial Championship Season 1

Welcome to Season 1

Due to the success of the previous NFS Shift Time Trial Comp I'm back with the keys for Shift 2 Unleashed Time Trial Season 1. As per Shift 1 TT, each season consists of Ten Time Trial Events with each event lasting 1 week, so total ten weeks. Each event is selected (Car/ Track) by a nominee as per the rule outlined below.

The following rule set is a copy & paste from the previous Shift 1 Time Trial so will be changed/ tweaked to reflect Shift 2 & feedback over the next week or so.

Rules:

To avoid any cheating, the car can be tuned and upgraded to whatever you want. (Unless a 'Works Converted', 'Stock', 'Reward' or 'Loaner' car is chosen)
Proof of the lap time will be provided in this thread by either screen shot (e.g. Fraps on PC) or camera shot for console users. This means that this tournament is open to all versions of the game on either PC or console.
Two Screen shots must be taken (Finishing Positions & Laps) at the end of the session. Lap times will not be included from mid race as these times show illegal lap times where corner cuts may have been taken.
Lap must be set in Time Attack mode.
The highest ranking driver on the Weekly Event Leaderboard WITHOUT a nomination gets to choose the next Weekly Event Car/Track Combo. If for whatever reason the highest applicable driver cannot make a nomination in time, then the second highest ranking drivers' nomination will take effect & so on. Nominations will be made by e-mail to myself no later than 5pm on the following Saturday. This is because people are eager to start playing and any delays are just plain irritating.
Remember we're here to have fun with a challenge thrown in for good measure

Do I stand any chance playing with a gamepad?

If I get a steering wheel I dont want to spend too much because racing games arent something I play constantly, would the thrustmaster ferrari experience wheel from ocuk be good enough?

Hi Eames & welcome.

I use the x360 gamepad myself & don't perform badly compared with wheel users. I'd suggest trying the gamepad first & see how you go. Are you using an x360 pad? I'll post my controller setup for you;

Force Feedback 100%

Steering Deadzone 0%
Steering Sensitivity 45%

Throttle Deadzone 0%
Throttle Sensitivity 50%

Brake Deadzone 0%
Brake Sensitivity 50%

Clutch Deadzone 0%
Clutch Sensitivity 50%

Speed Sensitivity 100%

Sorry forgot to mention: This is used with 'Elite' handling model with NO assists except ABS.

anything against keyboard user + ABS+traction control + stability?

we already did some brands hatch indy for fun and the wheel users seemed to be upto .75 of a second faster anyway

but i would still like to make up the numbers

Everybody is welcome with any input device & any aids they wish to use. This is for fun.
Yes I've seen your times on Autolog. Impressive I must say. I use the x360 pad myself.

so to get this straight we can use a lotus exige S with whatever upgrades we desire? aslong as we dont install the works package?

if thats right heres a benchmark time for people to beat which shouldnt be to hard my exige has a 1655 performance index (all upgrades but not works)

lol wierd the autolog wall shows the lap beeing a fraction faster than the fastest lap shows at the top wtf....

btw you all realise tyres can overheat

best to not do flying laps unless your checking the telemetry for tyres, dont forget they can wear out to

No. You can Works convert if you wish

If no specifics are stated you can upgrade as much as you like, including a full Works Conversion.

Examples of specifics for car selection/ upgrades;

Week 1: Lotus Exige S @ Donnington National (No specifics. Upgrade as much as you want) What we're Time Trialling this week

Week 1: Lotus Exige S 'Works Converted' @ Donnington National (Specific. Car MUST BE Works Converted)

Week 1: Lotus Exige S 'Loaner Car' @ Donnington National (Specific. MUST USE Loaner Car - No Tuning/ Upgrades available) Note: Not sure if Loaner cars are used in the same way as Shift 1. I'll test

Week 1: Lotus Exige S 'Reward Car' @ Donnington National (Specific. MUST USE Reward Car - No Tuning/ Upgrades available) Note: Not sure if Reward cars are used in the same way as Shift 1. I'll test

Like I've said, these rules are open to change due to not being fully familiar with Shift 2 compared with Shift 1.

can people post the time showing the laps tab so we can see the sector times (unless you want to keep it hidden so people cant see where they are losing time)

New time - 1:02:823

Works Upgrade - performance rating is 1985

One weird think I just noticed, main screen shows my time, but the speedwall on the right shows 1:02:821 & on the Autolog records it shows 1:02:820 :confused:

bug in the game maybes.

Could maybe shave a bit off that time with tuning, but thats pretty much a perfect lap for me.

Thing is it doesn't show the car you used. So two screen shots 'Finishing Positions' for proof & 'Laps' if you want to see splits.

the Speed Wall doesn't reflect the current event. Check my screenshot. I've a faster time using RS Cosworth

ahh ok, its a pitty autolog is so basic ...no groups , cant make an event for friends etc EA shout like its the best thing since scoreboards were invented lol

had another go in the works and shaved a few tenths but dont think i can get under 1:04 on a keyboard.

im assuming all you guys are using juls minimod which improves laptimes a bit

the problem is we cant see what mods/spec are running . times could be in the works and psoted as standard .. not done any time trials yet but is there any other screens that show details of the car and times ?

theres no point cheating its only for fun...

for this one you can run the lotus with whatever upgrades or with works modifications if you want.

top times will obviously be with the works version
