if you get infected with the windows fix disk fake antivirus rubbish which a lot of bookface users are because they click videos linked by a friends account without looking what is beeing clicked

you can easily remove it by running combofix http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/anti-virus/combofix (note if your running a pirated version of windows it will treat your loader as a virus :p )

fixed my step sons comp with minimal hassle..

Combofix is great, especially if Malwarebyte's or SuperAntiSypyware can't fix an issue. Better news is combofix now fully supports Windows 7 32 and 64-bit. :)

My usual routine is to do the following.

  1. Remove all restore points and turn off system restore.
  2. If you can run the tools in normal mode fine, if not then safe mode with networking.
  3. Run TDSKiller
  4. Run Combofix
  5. Run Malwarebytes
  6. Reset IE settings to default and remove all personalisation.
  7. Delete all temp files (CCleaner)
  8. Check autoruns (with autoruns - great for finding services that should not be there).
  9. Launch Google and ensure that your searches are correct and your hosts file is not hijacked. If it is MS have a one click MATS fix for the hosts file.
  10. Once you are happy with the system re-enable System Restore and created a new point (if you wish - I don't use it)

yea i tried malwarebytes but after the scan started and detected a fe nasties the operating system rebooting so i can only assume the fake anti virus program realised what was happening.

i thought sod it and ran combofisk without doing anything else, it removed the fake anti virus and removed the hidden tag from every file/folder on the hardrive on its own brilliant !

had to reinstall microsoft office for some reason but everything else apears to be working fine.

combofix has saved my stepsons laptop atleast 3 times now over the years :D

wont be using Combofix, just ran it and its deleted 3 programs that i use without asking
one is my fingerprint reader.exe to name one
hate programs that just delete what it likes without asking

well combofix is measnt to be like a last resort program and you do get warnings you must have clicked "yes" on the warning screen

Strange one that. Ran this software many, many times and never had a problem with it deleting files unless they are infected in some way.

Just re-install steam.

yes ive installed it again but was suprised it deleted it,also deleted some files from my ati folder so just waiting for that to go **** up
