well this is my second post about my first build and my blood is running at about 50 degrees

my problem is this, i cant for the life of me find the ATX 8 PIN 12V cable i need to complete the setup, i even HAD it inserted, and was 99% sure it was the correct fit, but after hours of constant problem solving and what not its packed its bags and dissapeared, i would imagine the cable would be one of those protruding from the psu, as opposed to a seperate cable included with the unit, protruding from the psu are 2 6+2 cables coloured black, and 1 8 pin cable also black, where in the name of the lord is the atx 12v hiding?

i have another question which any zalman z7 prophets could help with,
ive plugged in all the system lights plugs like SW RESET and PWR but a 4 pin SPEAKER plug is nowhere to be seen? could it be possible that this is an error on their part? i thought at i was meant to plug the HD AUDIO plug into it, but it seems thats not the case as it fits elsewhere

this build proving formidable

once again, id be VERY GREATFUL for awnsers

cheeers

it has to fit, it is the 8pin

look carefully at the pins of the 8pin plug and the socket on the motherboard, notice that some of the pins/and socket holes are square and some have shaped edges.

Can you take a picture and post the connections for the PSU, have they done a rev change and this cable is now modular rather than hard wired.

In regards to your second question, your case might not have internal speaker for post beeps and error codes.

ive inserted the 8 pin, it does not seperate into 2 4's like u said, and the shapes do not match, but it goes in...no idea what to ask next

If 'the shapes do not match' how did you manage to get it plugged in?

One side of the 8 pin plug should be a perfect fit for the 4 pin socket. If it really doesn't separate it'll just overhang the one side of the socket.

If you really have forced the plug into the socket your next question will probably be 'does anyone smell burning?'

Hi, l have a HX850, look in the instruction book to find out what a 8pin 12v cable looks like , you should have one, it is not a modular cable, it is permmently attached.

What mobo are you using?

Hi again, you'll note that at 8 pin 12v cable has a little arm on one side if you look at the female 8 pin 12v connector on you mobo it has a small lip on one side, that is the side the arm goes to, it just clips in wth a little pressure. If not and you have forced it in bye bye PSU or mobo, even both, if you turn it on.

I put pictures for you in your last thread but here we go again.

It's the connector in the bottom right hand corner of this picture.

If your PSU doesn't have one then someone must have had a very bad day at the factory.

The cable is the same length as the 24 pin connector.

The cables for the graphics card connectors are shorter.

Also own an hx 850, in the pic above, note the furthest cable on the right, this is the 8 pin atx power connector, mine is connected to an extension,( blue yellow red visible wires with kh on the heatshrink). On my corsair the 8 pin atx is hardwired directly to the psu along with the 24 pin and 2 x pcie cables.

Both on my HX450 and HX750 there is an 8-pin which splits into 2x 4-pin connectors like above, also both hard-wired in with the big ATX cable.

well il be damned either i really sucked at lego as a child or mine really DOES NOT split into 2 4's.. im 99.99% sure it doesent, the 24 pin is in and the 2 pci-e slots are in my gfx, which leaves this 8 pin for the mobo, my issues are somwhat more worrying now ive made a thread called ' first build going horribly wrong' please read if your feeling helpful

thanks for the replys all!
