My Zaward PWM 140mm fans have arrived will do a small review, compairing them to the ProlimaTech 140mm Blue Vortex fans which are already installed, both set of fans will end up a Push:Pull config on my BI GTS 420 Triple Fan Rad. The only downside is when are manufactures going to realise we want different coloured fans not just black or just Blue, glad to see a lot more are braiding the fan cable. If a manufacture produces a good fan, having them in various colours would be a good selling point.

Note-CPU i7920-4.2GHz + GPU GTX470-850/1700/2000MHz are in the same loop, cooling the GPU at idle at the same time running P95. Rad used > Black Ice GT Stealth 420 Triple 140mm Fans > W153mm x H460mm x D29.60mm - 30FPI[Fins Per Inch]

Note- Using OpenHardwareMonitor to get the Core Temp Readings + Fan Speed Readings as well.

First up the x3 ProlimasTech 140mm 1000rpm fans are already installed on my Rad > push config. Well l have to use the caveman technic -
1-With my head near the fans can't hear a thing very quiet indeed, Noise Level Quoted-18.1dba.
2-My hand acouple of inchs away from the Rad Face you can feel quite a bit air coming through the Rad > actual speed 1085rpm.

ProlimaTech 140 Blue Vortex Fans Spec-

Next we will check the core temps of the x3 ProlimaTech fans at idle after 10mins / P95 at 10mins set at SFFTs them at 20mins / idle again after 10mins.
Note-Room temp is 19'c.

1-Idle after 10mins > 28/31/29/32'c +/-1'c > actual fan speed 1085rpm.
2-P95 after 10mins > 62/62/65/66'c +/-1'c > " " " "
3-P95 at 20mins > 64/64/65/67'c +/-1'c. > checked room temp again > 19'c.
4-Idle again after 10mins > 29/31/29/33'c +/-1'c > 1090rpm.
5-GPU core temp went upto > 33'c from 29'c at idle.

Time to swap out the ProlimaTech fans to the x3 Zaward 140mm PWM 1200rpm fans, check the core temps again at idle after 10mins / P95 at 10mins set at SFFTs them at 20mins / idle again after 10mins.
Note-By the time l swapped out the fans on the Rad push config room temp had went up by 1'c, room temp was 19'c now 20'c.

Zaward 140mm PWM Fan Spec-

For the fan noise level + actual speed plugged one Zaward PWM fan into a 4pin system fan header.

1-With my head near the fan it was quiet, actual speed about 1156rpm under load > Noise Level Quoted-10.1 ~ 20.3dBA.
2-Placed my hand acouple of inchs away from the Rad Face you can feel a far bit air coming through the Rad.

Zaward 140mm PWM fans-
1-Idle after 10mins > 32/34/33/37'c +/-1'c > actual fan speed 445rpm.
2-P95 after 10mins > 64/65/ 64/67'c +/-1'c > " "735rpm.
3-P95 at 20mins > 65/65/66/67'c +/-1'c > " "40rpm > checked room temp again > 20'c.
4-Idle again after 10mins > 33/34/33/37'c +/-1'c > 489rpm.
5-GPU core temp went upto > 35'c from 32'c.

Now installed the Prolima 140mm fans back onto the Rad, so now we have a Zaward PWM 140mm fans x3-Push/Pull-ProlimaTech140mm fans x3.
Note-Room temp still at 20'c.

For the fan noise level + actual speed, in a Push-Zaward PWM x3 fans / Pull-ProlimaTech x3 fans config

DESK.jpg

1-As you can see my PC is right next to me on my left hand side fan noise was quiet under load >Zaward x3 fans-696rpm / Prolimas x3 fans 1099rpm > Noise Levels Quoted >Zaward fans-10.1 ~ 20.3dBA + ProlimaTech fans-18.1dba.
2-With the both the Zaward + ProlimaTech Fans mounted on my Rad theres a far bit of air coming through the Rad.

Zaward PWM x3 fans-Push/ProlimaTech x3 fans-Pull config-
1-Idle after 10mins > 28/30/28/32'c +/-1'c > Zaward x3 fans-403rpm / Prolimas x3 fans > 1090rpm.

Note-Fan 1 > Zaward PWM fan / Fan 3 > ProlimaTech Fan.

IDLE41028302832p-p.jpg

2-P95 after 10mins > 61/61/64/66'c +/-1'c > Zaward x3 fans-694rpm / Prolimas x3 fans > 1099rpm.

P95410PUSHPULL.jpg

3-P95 at 20mins > 62/63/65/67'c +/-1'c > Zaward x3 fans-696rpm / Prolimas x3 fans-1099rpm > checked room temp now at 20.5'c

P94420PUSHPULL.jpg

4-Idle again after 10mins > 29/30/28/32'c+/-1'c > Zaward x3-435rpm / Prolimas x3 1080rpm.
5-GPU core temp went upto > 33'c from 28'c.

Checked room temp again after half an hour its back to 20'c, core temps are >28/30/29/32+/-1'c >Zaward about 404rpm / Prolimas > about 1096rpm and the GPU temp has droped to 28'c.
Note-the Zaward PWM fan is rotating at 404rpm.

Played BC2[5/5/011] just over 2hrs core temps > 61/61/62/62'c +/-1'c > Zaward x3-708rpm / Prolimas x3 1110rpm > GPU core temp > 47'c, room temp was 20'c.
BC2[6/5/011] for nearly 3hrs, room temp 22'c, core temps > 60/61/63/62 +/-1'c > Zaward x3-714rpm / Prolimas x3 1118rpm > GPU core temp > 48'c, the core temps have settled back down to 30/32/31/34 +/-1'c + the GPU is idling at 30'c+/-1'c.
Final reading booted up PC[7/8/011] this morning, waited for about 10mins for the idle temps to settle core temps read > 27/30/28/31'c+/-1'c > Gpu core temp > 27'c > fan speeds > Zaward 412rpm + ProlimaTech 1108rpm, start up speed for the Fans were Zaward 396rpm and ProlimaTech 1180rpm.

To be honest this is my first dealings with 140mm Fans, both fans are of good quality with a low dba level and both move a far bit air,the only downside is when are manufactures going to realise we want different coloured fans not just black or just Blue glad to see a lot more are braiding there fan cable. If a manufacture produces a good fan, having them in various colours would be a good selling point. I was using my ears and hand to gauge noise + air flow level > forgot to mention by damping my fingers prior to putting it a couple of inches away from the Rad Face as you can feel the air flow a lot better. I'm well pleased with the BI GTS 420mm Rad with the Zawards + ProlimaTech fans in a push/pull-config, would anybody wth a 420 Triple fan Rad or even a 360 post your temps so l compare temps.

OLDPHART.

I can get you some temps when my room is at 20 degess later if i get the time. Will be difficult to compare directly though as i use a sr1-420 (9 fpi) with low speed 1000rpm 140mm yates with my 5870 in the loops as well. I have been looking at some new 140mm fans (prolimatechs, alpenfone, noiseblocker pk3, gelid wings etc) though as i may redo my loop over the summer.

Edit, found old temps screenshot from last summer @ 4ghz. Prime after 20mins, temps peaked at 59 on core 1, normal range was 56-58 degrees.

Hi shaper, glad you liked them but it would be nice to have a good range of fan colours, lol as JeffyB copied my colour scene Black and Blue, its a good job he lives in the Smoke or l think he would be knocking at my door, lol. :D

How you doing JeffyB, yes some temps would be good cheers m8, is just to see how my set up fars with over Rads of 420, 360. This is what we need a Watercooling section for so everyone can put up thier custom loop, etc giving what case, rad, etc, so people thinking of going watercooled can look this up as a quick guide. ;)

I'm good, busy though! I'll cool this room down somehow, currently ambient is 28 lol and do 20mins or so at 4.2ghz for you :)

Those prolimatech's look really nice, and the zawards are very reminiscent of the sharkoon silent eagle golf ball finned fans, those were some of the best fans ive ever used.

Hi setter bud, while reading reviews about the Zaward fans, one of them hinted that Zaward did not design them, but are making them under license. You might of hit the nail on the head m8. ;)

Im considering changing all of my fans to black and blue, need a couple of 140's for the front intakes, thinking either the prolimatechs or the alpenfohn's.

They certainly seem good, i need front intakes with good static pressure as they help with cooling my gpu's. Currently running a pair of 1400 rpm 140mm yate loons, cheap but very decent. Im going to go for a black and blue theme inside my case, gotta get it sent away first though to get it powdercoated inside, (nice shade of blue).

Got the room cooled down, managed to get to 20.5-21 degrees so a degree or so above your ambients.

Ek Supreme HF full nickel
Ek fc-5870 nickel acetal
SR1-420
D5 Vario speed 2
Ek multi res 250
Yate loon d14sl running at 930rpm in push.

I have a suspicion my mount is off and not as much pressure is on core 1 as the temp was constantly 2 degrees above the other cores. I may do a remount or slightly adjust the pressure on that corner of the chip.

Sorry for the rubbish pic, temp on the right is ambient, left is the water temp after about 15mins.

Well thought it was getting a bit hot the Boss has put the CH on to dry some cloths as it was raining, its was nearly 24'c in PC room. So l checked my core temps thinking they will be abit high but they were 64/65/63/65'c +/-1'c fan speeds 771rpm-Zaward + ProlimaTech-1110rpm, GPU core temp 50'c.

Well pleased with my Push/Pull set up, was abit uncertain that fans below 1200rpm would give good results, seem to be working a ok. :)

Cheers JeffyB, learning something new all the time, well since l'v had my 470 l have never ran the CPU + GPU stock to see what the core temps would be at idle, p95, bc2. So l'v ran the same tests at stock and took the core temps readings after idle after 10mins / P95 at 10mins set at SFFTs them at 20mins / idle again after 10mins.

Just to see how they faired with my results in my earlier post.
CPU-i7920>2.798 / GPU-GTX>950mv-607-1215-1674MHz [STOCK-SETTINGS] Ambient Temp-22'C-

IDLE TEMPS After 10mins>30/31/30/34'C +/-1'c
P95 AT 10mins>50/50/51/53'c +/-1'c
P95 AT 20mins>50/51/51/53'c +/-1'c
BC2 CORE TEMP>50/51/51/53+/-1'C / GPU > 43'C / Fan Speed> 592-Zaward PWM 140mm Fan / 1121-ProlimaTech 140mm Fan.

Well the CPU temps are a lot cooler, but look at the GPU-at stock settings- 950mv/607/1215/1674MHz playing BC2 GPU core temp > 43'c, compaired with the GPU temp when l played BC2[6/5/011] Ambient Temp-22'c, GPU core temp > 48'c > GTX-470> 850/1700/200-1.25mv. It just proves how much power it draws even at stock speed and the temp it reachs, but saying that even with a fan profile on air the GPU still reached 80'c.

You know i have not even tried this loop with cpu at stock and i only oc my gpu if i bench. Might have to give it a whirl just to see what i get :)
