I know there are probably a lot of posts like this, but here it is anyway :)

Basically need a good 24" primarily for gaming, not bothered about 3D, just something with a fast pixel response and vibrant colours. Needs dvi and vga (for mbp).

I've been looking at the new asus LED monitors that are available to preorder on ocuk, however I'm confused as to pricing and specs as they look very similar. I've done the rounds looking at reviews, etc, but I'm ultimately confused! If you could suggest any monitors or recommend waiting for any that are due to be released soon then it'll be much appreciated.

Cheers

PS My first post on the monitors section!

Acer GD245HQ :).

It's a 3D monitor but you'll want it primarily for the 120Hz and the amazing fast response time. Alternatives include the LG W2363D at a much lower price point though I don't think the pixel response is as good.

If it's just gaming you want it for, then get a 120Hz.

U2311H. I know it's 23" not 24, but I can't imagine it's that noticeable.

It depends which is more important to you, fast response (where TN quoted figures often are inaccurate/don't factor in everything required), or picture quality. I know which I'd pick every time.

+1

So it's really between the Dell U2311H or the LG W2363D? Picture quality vs. refresh rate?

I've also been looking at the new Asus on This Week Only today and the very popular BenQ G2420HDBL. Any opinions on those? :)

Spot on.

Personally I would go with the Dell - it is an all-round great monitor that is responsive enough to play games well but also offers excellent image quality and viewing angles. Here is the tftcentral review if you haven't already seen it.
