Official 'John Carter' Movie thread

You may not have heard of this film yet but you will do very soon. It's Pixar's next movie and is the first time they are venturing into CG with live action.

The first Teaser will be shown at the start of the next Harry Potter movie (I believe in the next few weeks).

Not quite, that will be their next fully inhouse CG film - but this is the next feature with their name on it.

Not bad, one of the comments has it bang on, looks like Prince of Persia meets Avatar.

Also didn't see Pixar mentioned at all?

Yea quite strange that they aren't putting their name on it yet.

I know for a fact this is a part Pixar production because I'm currently working on this show - and am getting my orders from them

Avatar and Prince of Persia look like John Carter, the first John Carter book was written in 1911. A lot of older films are inspired in some shape or form from the John Carter story.

samir: technically it's a Disney film AFAIK, Stanton has been "borrowed" from Pixar to direct the film. Are you saying (without breaking NDA or whatever

) that there's a tighter connection between the two?

Well it's the visual style, it looks like it has borrowed a lot from those two films.

Stanton is not all they "borrowed" from Pixar

By the way, the shot at 26 seconds in is one of mine. Annoyingly they really butchered the length of it so they could squeeze it into the teaser, the full length shot is quite epic. Maybe in the next trailer.

Looks really nice, can't wait to see the full length. I'm sure there will be a longer trailer at some stage. Stanton has said that he doesn't like showing/spoiling a film in a trailer. There are some quite epic scenes to come, I am led to believe (I don't like spoilers either!).

Them there ships looking pretty sweet, lets hope the 8ft tall grass hoppers can match up

I have a collection of Barsoom "Carter of Mars" books and have been a fan since I was a boy, so you can imagine how damned excited I am about this Movie, and damned disappointed I will probably be after watching it.

Do you work with a guy called Oleg? I went to uni with him and I know he did stuff on this film, doing well for himself by the looks of things.
