Hey guys, just finally replaced my old antec 900 case, which is looking a little worse for wear, but i thought cause its such a nice case in general i'd give it some loving.

So far i have emptied it of all electrics etc etc and taken all the bays out and all the plastics off, leaving me with a totally bare chassis, which is where my picture log starts. - The reason it's outside is cause I had to drill out a screw which had lost all thread and i couldn't remove.

Here are general shots of the poor state the case is in at the moment.

Case was also COVERED in really thick grime and dust, didn't fancy the labour so i pressure washed it and left it in the sun to dry! :D yay for insane quick ways round work!

Just trying to strip down the case further - i intend to paint inside and out matt finish black, im pretty sure i need to sand it down, prime it then paint it, anyone know more about this? and how can i sand it apart from using just my arm and sandpaper, it hurts! :(

How do i derivet? :o

Drill them out using a slightly larger drill bit than the hole in the rivet, then use a pair of pliers to knock off the rivet remains / head. Don't forget you will need new rivets (and rivet gun) or nuts and bolts to put it back together again.
Check this out...

Ok guys thanks for info on riveting :o will look into it.

I have been removing the old paint/power coating from the case ready to receive the primer, got a fair bit off, although last night, impatience and lots of cider got the better of me and i tried to paint over the old coating with random metal paint, bad idea XD have spent a lot of time today correcting the mistakes, as you will see in the pictures, a lot of the tricky bits are down to bare metal now so i should have it done by the time my primer arrives from the bay.

Yay my etch primer has arrived, just a little more preliminary sanding work and we're good to go on spraying, i also need ideas of how to make the case side look nicer, i ordered an A3 size 4mm perspex sheet for window mods cause i dont like the current one, will get some pics up in a bit

Ok big pic upload incoming in next few mins, time for a massive update, have done a lot of work but sadly missed out pictures due to there not being a camera available for me -

My last update/Pics show a massive fail attempt at painting the case without fully sanding it or priming it -

Since then i have

- Purchased more primer
- Purchased Black and Neon Green Plastikote projekt paint
- FULLY sanded down case
- Primed case with 4 coats
- Sprayed whole case black
- Sprayed selected components neon green
- Ordered 4 Antec high air flow tricool fans
- Ordered a CCF Green lighting kit

Pics incoming soon.

And here is an EPIC fail - it came out perfect until the wind blew some paper over it, therefore smudging it :( then i realised, the epic fail from me, i did it upside down!

ARGHHHH - i would fix it but i cba right now, and that side is going against the wall anyway :P - out of sight out of mind!

Nice! The 900 is a great case! Will you be using green LEDs in the build also?

Whilst you are up for some modding, why don't you add some cable management holes like I did with my rev1 900? There's plenty of room behind the panel with some careful cable management and will make a massive difference inside the case!

Holes drilled with holesaw (having matched it with mobo cable locations before cutting ;):

And the fugly shot that no-one will ever see! :D
