I didn't want to put this in the main thread as it may get lost in the tons of posts in there!
First, a heads up to any admins, Multiplay are offfering 50% off their Battlefield 3 servers on pre-order. EDIT This is now for the life of the server, so I guess if you renew with them the 50% will continue.
Second, I wanted to get a feel if people want to team up and host a BF3 server for 6 months as a trial? Basically £1 per slot (on pre-order), so 64 slot conquest server is £64 a month.
To make this work I think we'd need a minimum of 10 people to keep the costs down, maybe trial it for 6 months (although after the 6 months the price may have gone up as the 50% offer only applies to pre-order) - would need to review at that time.
Benefit to contributorss:-
1. VIP access (kick a player to make a slot available)
2. Admin rights on the server to keep the server nice and clean from hackers/exploiters etc - complaints on admins kicking for no reason would be reviewed and admin right recinded if numerous complaints filed etc (VIP slot would remain).
3. Review board for server maps/modes etc held with each member able to vote. Perhaps bi-monthly?
I would be happy admin the server/set up admins and sort out the ordering etc but payment would need to be made upfront (Bank Trasnfer/Paypal gift etc) for the full amount which could vary depending on the number of people interested - at least 10 though would make it sensible. Can't cope with monthly payments so not going to go there and anyway, if they decide to pull out 1 month in, it makes it more expensive for the remaining contributors - so thats a no go.
Happy to take on board any suggestions to the above, number of slots, other areas I've missed etc but please lets keep this thread open to people intrested in BF3 Server hosting rather than general BF3 chat which can be found in the other thread here.
I'll update this first post with the names of the people interested, please, only serious suggestions and/or contributor membership applications - don't ruin it by saying you'll contribute now only to drop out just before ordering.
Might need to wear tags in-game to identify admins? Not sure on that one yet.
