Oh damn was it this weekend? I've been to a couple before, I wonder why I didn't get an invite/email this year?

Nice set there, the panning shots are good. Only critique I'd want to give is that maybe you next time could risk using a slightly longer shutter speed to get even more movement in them. Also try to leave a bit more room in your framing at the front of the car, for it to drive into if you like. A few highlights are blown too but it looks like that was only when the sun was out, so it was probably pretty hard going anyway

Thanks for your comment Scam, I try using the AV setting with a shutter speed of 1/60 but if wasn't working for me. I need more practices with that one so i just left it on P.

I was there today. Got a few pics to go through but I doubt they'll be on par with yours. Panning at long focal lengths is virtually impossible, plus the constantly changing sunlight/cloud just made it even harder. Still, enjoyed the day though.

Number 5 you must have been the other end of the grandstand from me, he crashed right in front of me, didn't get many photos as at 300mm it was too close.

I'm going to go through my photos tonight hopefully and put some up.

How do you work out what shutter speed to use so that you're not making it harder than it needs to be when there's so many variables like distance, speed, focal length etc? I'm going to the BTCC at Rockingham next month so will have another chance to practice

Trial and error on the shutter speed and everything else really.

Edited some of mine (could probably do a better job but with so many photos I get tired of processing them).
Sorry they are 800x600 but I was exporting for FB and don't want to go back through exporting larger sizes.

I went both days but most of the photos are from Sunday, these are all with a D300s, Sigma 50mm f/1.4, Tokina 12-24mm or Nikon 300mm f/4, some with a 1.4TC on the 300mm, not done much panning practice recently so had to get back my technique.
