Last night my PC locked up in a way it has before when GPU's where about to die and at boot up I am noticed artifacting over the windows 7 logo. Thing is the GPU never runs above 60 with a load and often below 40 when just on the web etc. I have tired new drivers etc and its not really made a difference.

Anyone know what could cause it or is it just above to die too?

Cheers

First things first. Check the card for dust clogging things up. Are you positive about the temps?

It's not unheard of for 460's to die. Can you describe the artifacts?

I think it was overclocked a bit when I got it but I got it from overclockers themselves as a part of my build and have not touched any settings since.

Its an ASUS, where would I go about looking for the model?

Thanks

Did a clean out today to see if it will help so far no difference but I will keep an eye on it.

Yea I am pretty sure about the temps. I use HWMonitor as my main way of tracking. I assume its pretty good? Quite a few fans in the system anyway it has a good airflow.

Sorry the artifacts are sort of lik a bar that goes across the bottom of the screen. Not noticed it during normal use yet though only at boot? and that one crash when everything froze up.

Hmmm... I think the card has had it then.

Have you tried booting from the onboard gpu to see if it happens on that too. Because if it is, then it could be your board or memory!
