Hi, i am getting round to playing some of the games i have bought in sales recently and thought i would start with this. I vaguely remember firing it up about a year ago, but i think it was just before another game came out so i put it back on the shelf and forgot about it.

What are your opinions on the game?
Anyone got any tips? ( i have heard it has a very steep learning curve, so would appreciate some guidance as i don't want to be put off)
Finally, anyone tried any of the conversion mods, some of them look interesting! (not that i would use them straight off obviously)

Cheers.

From what I remember, the game is brilliant! But you're right in saying the learning curve starts to get a bit steep fairly early on in the game - it's fine to begin with, but once you progress through the "starting zone" (for lack of a better phrase) it begins to get a lot more difficult.

My advice would be to not get too disgruntled if you fail a mission a couple of times. The first play through I would usually sit back and see what would happen, understand what weapon loadouts would be better etc.

Remembering all this kind of makes me want to play it again, it's a very good game and well thought out!

An absolutely brilliant game - the learning curve isn't too bad early on, but it ramps up quickly (I won't say when).

I remember it being pretty tough until finding the right balance between the different types of weapon and strategy.

One of my favourite games - still wish this had become Imperium Galactica 3 though, could have been such a good game :(

Thanks. Looks like a lesson in patience is on the way.

Should see me through until BF3, i am quite looking forward to playing it actually, especially with news of the sequel floating about.

I've gone through about 5 different multiplayer games over the last week or so to find something to tide me over until BF3 hits. Think I may just have to whip this out again as the singleplayer is really good!

Just played through the first few bits, pretty awesome, i do find it a little awkward to know what i am targeting at times though but i imagine i will get used to it. It is a shame i have come to this late, as i imagine people were blown away by the visuals when it first came out! It still looks good as well, though i will have to get a resolution fix as i can't have it in 1920x1080 atm.

This game is brilliant!

Does anyone know how to sort the resolution? atm i can choose from 4, none of which are my native res and when i quit it resets.:(

Looks like you have to edit a registry key, which one depends on the operating system you're using, details in link.

Solution
Registry edit.
The location of the game's settings in the registry differs depending on whether you're running a 32 or 64bit version of Windows and in Vista based on whether or not User Account Control functionality is enabled.

  • XP and Vista 32bit, UAC off: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mithis\Nexus - The Jupiter Incident
  • XP and Vista 64bit, UAC off: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Mithis\Nexus - The Jupiter Incident
  • Vista 32bit, UAC on: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mithis\Nexus - The Jupiter Incident
  • Vista 64bit, UAC on: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Mithis\Nexus - The Jupiter Incident
Once there, the registry keys Display_Height and Display_Width may be edited appropriately. Make sure to select "Decimal" as the base when editing in new values.

Such a great game, its probably one of the games i will play through at least once a year really hope the sequal gets made.

I just made mine work with 1920x1080 with win 7 64bit its this one:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Mithis\Nex us - The Jupiter Incident

Also downloading the huge star wars mod for it :)

Does the star wars mod change any of the single player? most mods seem to be multiplayer or skirmish things :(
