ok so i'm getting a new laptop, I want it mainly for gaming, and no i do not want a desktop.

Main games i will be playing:
World of warcraft - All expansions
Call of duty MW3
Battlefield 3

and others when they come out.

I have this laptop in mind, it is on sale for 750 but i will get it for 655 with staff discount.

It is the Asus N55SF:-

Intel Core i7-2670QM - 2.3 GHz

6GB Ram

640GB HDD

NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M 2GB DDR3 VRAM

So this laptop for 655, for my needs is there any other laptop that is better for my needs within the 700 limit, or is this laptop more than better to handle the games i will be playing?

Thank you for reading.

That laptop is not bad for the price but the 555m will struggle with BF3 unless you are playing it at a low res (ie 1366x768). I wont cut it for 1080p

What res is the screen anyway?

I had a m14x with the 555m. It overclocked nicely and played most games well at 900p but when I hooked it up to my 27" 1080p screen it really struggled with the following games
BF3 beta
BFBC2
SC2 (with settings above medium)
Shogun 2

DOW2, COH and COD BO played fine at 1080

It'll be fine. Nice mid-upper ranged laptop at a fair price. You should be able to overclock the GT555m for a few more fps. Not sure what the cooling is like on the N55SF though.

Actually thinking about it, I may get one myself - Can you pm me with details on where you're getting it at that price. Never mind, i worked it out after I reread your post. Nice discount.

The only other option I think you have is an XPS L702X (XPS 17) from the Dell outlet. It will be refurbished, but you'll get a similar spec with a 17" HD display. Depends on your size preference really.

hey Jimbo it's on the Tesco website look for:

ASUS N55SF-S2342V

There is a 20 pound discount for everyone spending over 200 on electrical items until the 28th of November, but i get a further 10% discount for working for them :). The XPS is a nice laptop, but i don't like the idea of it being refurbished. I like buying brand new items :)

Also there is free delivery.

Thanks DotFifty, but you had better edit out the supermarket as its against board rules to mention competitors. Ocuk forum remember? :) (oh and b4 you say I mentioned the outlet, they seem to allow that!)

You can get 10% off and 8% cashback from Dell on XPS orders if you go through quidco.

"10% off all XPS orders with 2010 Intel Core over £699 + 8% cashback (more details)"
