How dumb are steam? Almost all companies use a 3rd party for to keep cc numbers on or other financial data so if steam were to be hacked then they couldn't have acquired any of the important info we would hate to lose.

Maybe the hackers were playing the demo http://store.steampowered.com/app/70120/?snr=1_4_4__108 too well and tried it on steam.

Don't have credit cards linked to steam... I think, how'd you check, steam's marketing department will have a lot of sorries if this has gone further.

I originally thought this was just a VB hack but seems to have been much more.

If you have ever used a card with steam they probably had your details.

Sorry if this sounds a bit thick here but as I have bought all of my games from Steam through Paypal, which requires its own login, then those details should be safe..?

Would it not be reasonable to at least change your password for Steam at this point..?

You should be able to change your Steam account, I did. You can't with the forums though.

Thankfully, I have Steam Guard active which should stop my Steam password from changing, plus pay with Paypal.
