I heard somewhere at the start of December there will be a big price drop on all 560's and 580's is this through? :)

Well if you heard it then is must be true, but I bet you can't show me where you heard it from.

Only 3 weeks to find out, the lower end one may drop in price but at the moment the higher end ones are going up.

If they are still selling well I can't see why they are going to be dropped in price.

Also with the 590's being in short supply the 580 is going to be the one high end Nvidia to buy.

3 £750 GTX590's have been sold by OC in the last 24hours only 3 left sold out by weekend.

Then on to the 580's. I have been waiting for 4 weeks for a second 580 but it's still out of stock EU & US (US have just had some in today)

There was mention of this on a HD7000 series thread. Apparently nVidia are doing a large price drop to counter the new AMD range...

LAst year when the 5000 series from AMDcame out and NVIDIA didn't have the GTX 400s you know what happened? The NVIDIA 200 series WENT UP in PRice. Right down to GTX 275/260. They shot up in price. :/

sucked big time. I was planning to get a 275 at the time and then the price shot up and i was like, screw this.

I fear the same may happen when teh 7000s come out.

The price drops are just speculation but there could be some truth to it. If the amd 7 series comes along with good pricing and performance then nvidia may be forced into pricing lower in order to compete. I have not seen anything official stating price drops.

I'm the one who mentioned it, HERE is the link.

Nvidia prepares Christmas sales

The most attractive announcement from Nvidia is that it has decided to launch a “clean stock” in December with some attractive price discounts.
Reasons behind price reduction of GTX 580 video cards

When Nvidia launched GTX 480 and 580 cards in November, it was priced $600 including taxes. But some close sources of Nvidia revealed that, Nvidia is planning to reduce the price of GTX 580 to nearly 380 dollars for the below reasons:

To increase the sales volume
TO clear previous stocks
To provide room for next generation Kepler GPU and
To step counter AMD Radeon HD GPUs 7000 Series

Besides analyzing the real reasons for price cuts, which is planned for December, it is a very good news for consumers as they can enjoy more attractive offers

That story doesn't even mention the 560s and specifically states the 580, so I think the answer to OP's question is don't count on it.

From the looks of things the new ATI cards will not be available until mid- to- late-spring. Which means that Nvidia will likely only do moderate price drops if any considering that the Xmas period is upon us.

If that link is legit we can expect GTX 580 to come down from £350 to around £220 on average. That's amazing! I'd totally get a GTX 580 if that's true.

Do you know this site? Are they reputable?

I can't find that news on any other site other then people posting in forums linking back to that same site.

I would have thought this would be a big news story & other PC tec sites would have pickup on this same story but they have not & it's 5 days old news now.

Seems fishy

They say they heard it from NVIDIA sources. Which means its unofficial. Which means its a first-hand report from the writers on site...

Question is how believable are these guys?
