Spec me a CPU

Come on, this should be simple, let's see who really knows their stuff .....

Best CPU that can fit in a Socket P @ either 533 or 800mhz

Either that or point me to a list of CPUs that support Socket P.

PPGA478 - Mobile socket 478 - Socket M are its names after some googling,

Thanks mate,

I'm already down this route, it's slow and painful but I've made a fatal error in that I actually need a Socket P not a socket M

Search continues... So far I've got T6500 which are dirt cheap or a T9300 which is more expensive has more cache but not really that much of a gain on the t6500

So here's what I've got

T2390 (Current) - 1meg cache Pentium Dual Core

T6500 (£15) - 2meg cache Core 2 Duo
~ 25s Super-Pi http://62.182.59.108/benchmark/superpi/rankings?hardwareTypeId=processor_1964

T9300 (£40-50) - 6meg cache Core 2 Duo
~ 17.3s Super-Pi http://62.182.59.108/benchmark/superpi/rankings?hardwareTypeId=processor_1505

Well after upgrading the machine to an SSD I've realised that the CPU is now the bottleneck and since I trade via the notebook speed has now become important with the new platform that I'm using.

Should I take a punt with the T6500 or stop being a tight git and go with the T9300 ? I mean 50quid for an average CPU - PAH makes my blood boil !

£15 is a easier pill to swallow if it doesn't work

Never upgraded a notebook CPU before so this is going to be fun.

Just installed a T8100 and got a big bump up + VT-x

Very happy with the results... I was fearing a dodgy Rooskie BIOS would be needed but no worked straight out of the box
