Ok im stuck on which phone to choose...currently have an Orange San Francisco which I have had for a year now.

My budget is about £100 and both of these phones are around that price. I would prefer to get a phone with a next gen cpu but that means £200+.

Main reason for wanting to change/upgrade is I really need a phone with a flash for the camera, and my OSF has recently started to have a crackling sound when im on the phone, and is starting to show signs of wear and tear.

On paper the MC is the better phone, but im a bit wary about the build quality as the OSF's wasnt the best, while HTC have a lot better build quality.

So really it just comes down to size...I love the size of my SF, but I like to browse so I can see the extra size of the MC screen coming in handy..just dont know how my pocket will cope with the extra size?? Hate bulky phones..

Before anyone mentions it, no I do not want the Experia Play :)

As you said, HTC's are bullet proof in terms of build quality and reliability, browsing on the small screen will be cramped, as the resolution isn't great on them. Also the power vs size makes them great pieces of kit and the batter is generally better as a result.

The camera is spot on and the flash is good too.

Haven't had any experience of the Monte Carlo as they must be an exclusive to Orange?

I bought my gf a wildfire S... Its a perfectly good phone, however the small screen makes things difficult. My GF came from using a iPod Touch and she is finding the keyboard slightly harder on the Wildfire, but that could be because the screen is smaller.

Biggest issue is the lack of inbuilt storage. Without rooting, you'll run out of application space quickly even with a MicroSD!

My missus has a wildfire S and its a pain in the ass, the only apps installed are facebook and ebay, yet she constantly gets memory low warnings, and fc's on facebook, or it not responding, its her second phone which had simaler issues.

I wouldnt recomened it, ive had 4 android decives and not experianced issues like that before bar custom roms problems.
