From ASRock:

- Dual Channel DDR3 memory technology
- 4 x DDR3 DIMM slots
- Supports DDR3 1600(OC)/1333/1066/800 non-ECC, un-buffered memory
- Max. capacity of system memory: 16GB

So you can use 2x8GB kits of the Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey giving you 4x4GB sticks of RAM.

The RAM will run at 1333MHz as standard. You need to "overclock" it for 1600MHz.

thanks for the info, and i dont supose youd know how i would 'overclock' it sorry iv never done anything like this, and only the 2nd time for installing pc components :)

would i just be changing the timings in the bios or?

In the BIOS there's an option for Memory Clock.

By default this is set to Auto.

But you can set it to the following values:

  • 400 MHz (DDR3 800)
  • 533 MHz (DDR3 1066)
  • 667 MHz (DDR3 1333)
  • 800MHz (DDR3 1600)
You may also need to set the appropriate timings and voltage.

  • CAS Latency (CL) 9
  • TRCD 9
  • TRP 9
  • TRAS 27
  • MA Timing 2T
  • Voltage, start at 1.55V and you can increase it a bit if it's not stable, or lower it until you find the lowest stable voltage

thought it was somthing like that, thanks a lot mate, your a realy help

i just noticed most of the memory on overclockers ses 'mainboard:intel' or something like that, but i take it they can all pretty much be used in amd aswell if u tweak a few settings in bios? or am i being stupid :L

You're welcome.

They like to say it's for Intel because it can usually run at a low 1.5V which the Sandy Bridge processors like.

It'll also work fine in an AMD system.

Just use the settings I gave above.
