Hi Guys,

I just recently purchased the following new build

  • Silverstone SG08
  • Gigabyte-H67-N-USB3-B3
  • I2500
  • MSI Twin Froser II 6950
  • 8GB ArcticWhite

Issue

When I boot up the machine, it goes to the Gigabyte Logo screen and just stays there. It doesn't respond to any keyboard strokes and after about 30 seconds it just reboots itself in this endless loop. Anyone have any idea how i can get past this?

There is another potential symptom but I think it's not relevant. Once the logo screen has been up for about 2-3 seconds, the top 20% of the screen becomes a band of thin multicoloured lines a bit like graphical distortion. I thought for a second there could be a gfx issue, but I removed the graphics card and used the onboard HD3000. Same issue, but this time the band was the bottom 20% of the screen. I assume there just a compatibility between monitor and computer which will resolve itself

Again any help would be very much appreciated.

Yeah have tried that.

The keyboard does seem to be working now. When it goes to the logo screen and I press tab (to post) screen, it seems to do something but then I just get a screen filled with vertical black and white lines.

Does this sound like a faulty motherboard?

Ok further experimentation, the weird posting issue occurs when the hdd is attached to the sata 3 port. Works ok on the sata 2

I have the crucial m4 256gb.

An I missing things with system settings etc?

Further follow up... infant it turns out it wasn't working as I had it plugged into sata 2 not 3. I was an idiot... Sata cable supplied was blue as was the socket... oops. All seems to be working.

But why would it cause issues in the sata 2 socket?
