Is my SSD really this hot?

Hi,

I recently installed Acronis to just check some info about my SSD and it came up with this error:

Can that actually be right?

Recently I have temporarily (it is still at the side), moved my front intake fan to the side window just to test something else, but my other temps seem fine:

Those above temps are from just casual web browsing, nothing else

I have just opened the case and put my hand on the SSD, it does not seem hot at all, maybe ever ever ever so slightly warm but that is probably at the front of the case where there is not really any cooling

I don't think the front intake fan would have cooled the SSD anyway where it used to be, the fan was in the standard position for the front intake on a CM Elite 430 and my SSD is in one of the 5.25" bays

Is this temperature reading actually accurate?

It also says:

"Soft read error rate" and the status for that is 'Degradation', all the other status' are 'OK'

Hope you guys can help, sorry if this is in the wrong section, was not sure where to put it

Thanks :)

I have also installed HDSentinel and Crystal Disk and neither of them can actually detect a temperature of the SSD (other people have also had this issue), so I'm assuming the 212 degrees Fahrenheit from Acronis is just a random figure because surely I would be able to feel that on the outside of the SSD if it was that hot??

ID: C2
Name: Temperature
Value: 80
Worst: 81
Threshold: 0

Is that the correct part? And is that temperature OK?

It also says health 100%

Extra info: 212 Fahrenheit is 100 Celsius

Just checked Acronis again and that 212 Fahrenheit warning is still there, but if I actually go into S.M.A.R.T Parameters, the temperature value is 100, threshold is 10 and status is 'OK'

Hmmmmmm

as per the rest of ocz ssd's its probably borked

Spoken like a true professional without a clue

It's a misreading, but if you really want to fix it, there's a solution on the OCZ forums.

+1 for linking to the solution

this will lock the temp display at 30 :D

just spare a thought for a mo as to why mechanical HDD's generate heat .... with moving parts inside .... and SSD's with no moving parts and very small electrical power usage .... :)
