This is good news, just downloaded the app, it says that netflix is coming to the UK soon, you can register your interest now, I guess the more people that do so the sooner it will get here hopefully.

edit -

It's up and running now!, 1 month free trial, £5.99 a month for unlimited streaming.

I've been using the US version of Netflix for a while and I'll wait to see what's on the UK version before I switch over. Being able to pick a random TV series or film and having it available straight away (pretty good selection on the US version) makes it better than torrenting.

depends on what you prefer

720P HD, download an episode in under 30 minutes on my 50MB connection or instant access to pixellated stuff which costs me £X a month?

i usually leave mine to download overnight though, so i have like 100 things for me to watch an any one time.

im not going to take it as a dig, i just dont see the point in paying for something if i can get it for free, i know music producer's who sell songs for a living, etc, who download music rather than pay for it, when they obviously hate that people download their music rather than pay for it.

it is the way the world works. imo your just throwing money away. im not tight, i prefer to spend my money on things which i obviously cannot get for free.

Even for you....that is an amazing statement.

i dont go into shops and steal or rob people, i download torrents, at least im honest, theres millions of people out there doing it, they just pretend they dont.

like i say, i even know people in the industry who do it themselves. every dj on the planet downloads music as well, only an idiot would pay for songs when he can download them for free.

also it's not technically stealing, it's piracy, which is completely different, people think it's stealing when it actually isn't. stealing is a far worse crime.

Well, piracy isn't theft.

I would argue that piracy is certainly stealing in a sense, noting of course that 'stealing' isn't a legal term and it represents taking something that doesn't belong to you.

if the police wanted to catch "pirates" or whatever you want to call them, all they would need to do is raid every nightclub in the UK, guarantee you none of the DJ's have paid for all the songs they play.

ummm, can't say I agree with that, especially "only an idiot would pay for songs when he can download them for free.", I download torrents atm because there isn't really a viable alternate for TV serials atm, but once there is I think they deserve to be paid, A know plenty of people that stopped pirating PC games once Steam took off, Gabe Newell made a good point recently in regards to piracy and one that I agree with fully,

"In general, we think there is a fundamental misconception about piracy. Piracy is almost always a service problem and not a pricing problem. For example, if a pirate offers a product anywhere in the world, 24 x 7, purchasable from the convenience of your personal computer, and the legal provider says the product is region-locked, will come to your country 3 months after the U.S. release, and can only be purchased at a brick and mortar store, then the pirate's service is more valuable. Most DRM solutions diminish the value of the product by either directly restricting a customers use or by creating uncertainty."

For years the music industry dragged their heals while pirates offered better services and finally when they gave in and allowed music to be sold via mp3 format online people coughed up the cash, atm the video industry is going through a similar but more complicated transition whith regional rights causing a lot of problems, like Gabe says, a lot of it is down to the service being offered, of course these entertainers deserve our money but I'm not waiting for 3-6 months for content to hit our shores after America gets it first, in this day and age all media should be available online on the same day in every country, like it is with PC games on steam, the day a video service offer's me the same service or at least very close to it I will open my wallet, it isn't a question of paying, but I'm not paying for a crap service.

Or people who respect the artists and want to support them so they can carry on making the music we enjoy.

So you know every single DJ in the UK then?

It's also out on the 360 today. Doesn't seem to be much new stuff on there though? Although I only had a quick glance.

I did a job for a sales exec for (one of the big music companies) both his daughters were torrenting music!
