I currently have two AK-274CB-4BLS 120mm Blue LED Fans in the front of my Antec.

These appear to be the noisiest fans overall in my system. (Tech specs say 18db)

Is there anythign that would perform as good, or nerly as good which arent as loud?

Im tempted with the Scythe Kaze Jyuni 500RPM Slip Stream 120mm Fan.

I know its only 500rpm, but, two of these at the front and one at the side of my antec 300 im guessing will be enough air.

Granted, they dont have blue LED's but then its one less thing to lighten my room up at night when im trying to sleep!

Unlessa nyone else has nay other suggestions?

Haven't used them my self, I just see a fair few on custom WC have them on rads due to the low noise high airflow ratio.

55cfm for 12db is pretty damn good IMO.

There not going to put out that amount of static pressure at 6.9dB (somewhere around 600rpm). I can vouch for the Vipers picking up a fair bit of noise at high speed, for the apaches I couldn't comment.

Bugger, you're right, the SE800 is indeed 140mm. The modular SE doesn't state dB/cfm but by the sound of it, it comes with inline resistors, you could get that and knock it down to 6v?

Im thinking of purchasing the Fractal 3000 case.

I know ive seen a few Fractal fans around, think it might have been 140mm though.

The Sharkoon Silent Eagle SE 120 mm, look okay, have different cables for voltages.

Fractal 120mm fans are pretty damn quiet but don't shift that much air tbh. Deltas and ear defenders is the way forward!

Ha!

The two Gelid Silent 12's are very quiet which I use on my CPU cooler, they're rated at 1000rpm, but can also be undervolted to run well at a slower speed if needed, plus they come with rubber fan mounts for extra silence and nicely braided cables. Don't think they're too expensive either, probably £6ish each at a guess.

I would certainly recommend them. :)

The dB spec on fans means nothing. Literally nothing. To compare fans, they need to have been rated under the same conditions, i.e. same distance between fan and microphone, same ambient conditions. This isn't standardised. If one fan is 20dB and was measured at 10cm, and the other was 10db measured at a meter, you want the 20dB one.

As a crude analogy, "I went on a 20 minute run" means nothing without the associated distance. "My car accelerated to 60 mph" doesn't mean anything without the time.

spcr , silent pc review, forums are the best place to look for advice.

edit: for the sake of throwing in my experience as well, san ace fans run on pwm are as quiet as you'll find. Ideally down to around 25% duty cycle.
