i have the following memory 1 x Corsair 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz/PC3-12800 XMS3 i5 Memory Kit CL9(9-9-9-24) 1.65V

i am running a i5-2500k at stock.

mb is 1 x Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3 Z68 Socket 1155 8 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard

when using onboard graphics i get a rating of 7.8 for the RAM and 6.4 on graphics (both).

after installing a 9500GT i get 5.5 on RAM and 5.3 on Graphics and 6.4 on gaming graphics.

can anyone explain why the RAM has dropped so much.

im running 32 bit windows 7.

games seem to have better graphics with the 9500GT in.

ok was just worried that something might be wrong with the graphics card.

would windows 7 64 bit help.

As you've only got 4GB of RAM probably not, but you can only use 3.5GB with 32bit I think. So you might want to change anyway? As above, it's nothing to worry about probably just because it's an older card. Is this for gaming or general use? If just general use I'd use the onboard graphics

I am starting to get into PC gaming. just waiting until i can get a new card.

on windows it says 4.00GB (2.92GB useable)

this was around 3.4 when using onboard graphics.

Why, you gained performance in games.

Always rate a system on how it runs not on how it's rated by a system which is built to make people spend more on components for bigger e-peen. :p

ah, looks like the GPU is using some of the RAM (Hence it says less when using it) so that is what is reducing performance. Nothing to worry about :)

I would change it to 64 bit Windows anyway, there's no reason to use 32 bit anymore and you'll be able to use the full 4gb RAM.

Ok I installed 64 bit windows and a 560 ti.

I now get 7.9 on graphics and 5.9 on the ram.

Not sure what is going on with the ram rating.

Probably just WEI being silly. If it's definitely running at 1600Mhz and you aren't experiencing any problems I wouldn't worry about it. It may be that you can't get more than 5.9 with 4GB of RAM? No idea though!

WEI reports a low RAM figure as you are using some for the IGP?

Disable the onboard GFX and run it again.

ok i disabled the IGP and i am still getting 5.9.

not sure what is going on. i have noticed things like firefox being slow to open.

what is the best way to test whether the memory is ok.

ok re-ran it with IGP off and the ram profile on turbo and i get 7.9. stange things are going on i think
