Sick of this Xonar DX crackling and popping, suggestions?

Best to establish that it's actually the soundcard that's crackling and popping. What are you listening through? Front panel audio or straight out of the back of the card?
 
I'd also want to be sure as well. My DX is totally free of hiss, crackle and pops, so it's not an inherent design flaw or anything.
 
Make sure your mic is muted, if indeed you have a mic plugged in. Don't ask me how I know about that one :(
 
That's a possibility. Do you have another machine you can try it in?

If it isn't faulty. Sound cards can be troublesome for some people, depending on what specific components make up the rest of the system. You could take a card from a PC, where there is nothing but sound problems, put it into another PC, and it will work perfectly well.

Some people have had problems with Creative cards, bought an Asus, and found it worked fine. For some people it's the other way round.
 
Are you running with GX mode enabled? If so try it without, i found i get some crackling with GX on with my essence ST deluxe.

A shot in the dark maybe but it might help..... I had this and it was all to do with northbridge temp if you can keep it below 65C it is fine above that I had pops and crackles, might be worth a try ???
 
Might also we worth taking the card out and wiping over the contacts in case there is any thing on them which might be causing such things. Re-seating can help sometimes , also guess you have tried with another set of speakers/headphones? Does this crackling / popping happen the moment the machine is switched on?
