I remember seeing a thread like this a while ago, searched put couldn't find it. Anyways,

What is the best product/method to cleaning out the dust from your PC?

I've seen a few people use massive air compressers but thats just inconvenient

I've seen the majority of people use compressed air cans, which seems good, but just blows the settled dust around the case.

I haven't seen or heard of anyone else using those mini PC vacuums on their cases.

So hints/tips/recommendations please

You can use a vacuum, if you are going to make sure if doesn't come into contact with any components.

Hold it a few inches from the surface and use a new paint brush to remove the dust from the case. The vacuum will suck it up.

Normal vacumn cleaner to suck up dust as you loosen it with a brush or compressed air.

i always feel u are just pushing the dust arround with a can of air. suppose its good for getting the dust out from the fans on cases and cpus without taking them off.

a bit of conformation on the hoover,s giving off static please cause thats what i do :(

Brush/Compressed air and a vacuum, I've seen specialized PC cleaning attachments, but I couldn't begin to reccommend one :D

i usually use a brush, i am too tight to buy compressed air, so i use a foot pump. The ones you use for inflating paddling pools. They come with a fine nozzle, roughly the same size as a straw, so unlimited air supply ;)
If my kids are about, i will have one with the hoover, hoovering the disturbed dust.

Cillit bang and the dirt is gone.

The PC might go bang as well but it will be clean. :)

Seriously I use hover, duster and paint brush in that order, being very careful with the hover. :)

I always use my compressor but only cos it goes up to 10bar, I did have one of those cans and found they we're never high pressure enough to actually blow the dust out of the case. Other option is a good paint brush, always handy if you have a PC to clean with any caked on dust.

Also those cans of air are never particularly cheap. You can get a small compressor for the price of less than 10 of those cans

Then all you need is a cheapy hose and gun for about £10 and you're set.

A few users on here have used those matress pumps to good effect. I use paint brushes and compressed air. Ive also washed cpu coolers under the shower, then dry them off overnight in the airing cupboard. Best way to get dust out from densely spaced fins.

I used a hoover and a brush, but i may get some compressed air, the stuff in a can, as it seems easier, but only when i build my new PC ;)

mate you might wanna stretch a load of women tights over any open areas on the PC to let them act as a filter, i've ran my PC for 3 years now without having to clean the inside once, just had to replace the tights, which took 30 mins max or you can rub the tights abit on so the dust 'falls' off the tights, easy, cheap, effective :D

It might work but I don't like the look of a tower covered in tights lol

Ive used several different types/makes of compressors for a few years now (not inside computers) and every single one of them had moisture vapor inside them, I also had one like you linked to but a more reputable brand (Bostich).

I used to use them for blasting my mountain bike dry after a degrease and after degreasing chains/bearings etc, I also used them for nailguns and some air tools, impact wrench, cut off wheels. I have never come across one which doesnt blow out some moisture, even a tiny bit which isnt what you want near you pc internals.

I would stick to your hoover and possibly ground yourself while the hoover is running and a can of compressed air
