No, I'm not some old lady of the night, I do however have what can only be described as a baggy/slack PCI-E slot, I noticed if I knock the case a little by accident my system would blue screen showing an error I had not seen before. I have a HIS 6950 ICE Q XPlus and it seem to be sloping down toward the back, first I thought it was the power cables pulling on it so I pulled a little more cable through, no joy ,took cables out, no joy. Swapped to lower slot and all looks fine, also feels tighter but I cannot run with it there. In the review of my card it said it was supplied with some kind of plastic contraption called a 'weight lifter' mine was not so I assumed it was not needed (it was described in the review as unnecessary) I have now made a small support for it, just wondered if anyone has had a similar problem?

Hi Wazz, did a quick search and apparently its something quite common (never happened to me tho)

Google "Loose pci-e slot"

According to

http://www.pchelpforum.com/graphics/121568-loose-pci-e-slot.html

it could be the plastic pci sheath/shroud. the plastic shroud might be loose and its giving the impression that the actual pci slot is loose. Best to have a good look to be sure

With big graphics cards, like urs, they do tend to slope a bit. I have the same issue witth my 2 5870's. It's coz of the coolers they come with, which are quite big and heavy.

Simplish to solve: watercool them, you'll remove the large heatsink so its lighter, and you'll probably be able to get higher clocks on the gpu due to beter cooling.

Hope it helps

Thanks dude , i have checked the plastic shroud & it seem solid, just seems to be the actual card in the slot, i have made a little support for it and that works fine no more blue screens. Just wanted to know if it was a common problem, and if so why HIS no longer supply the card with the weight lifter.
