Hope you all get the right glasses :)

On that front, I think myself and others are making headway with LG on the matter, so if you read the threads on issues with ghosting because of wrong glasses included, it hopefully won't be an issue getting them replaced.

Hopefully I will have definite info on this soon.

I wrote a review of this on the Latest Offers thread, but here is an extra bit I added earlier:

Ok another review to be added here for this monitor.

In order to get the best out of playing blu ray movies in 3D, best to use PowerDVD 11 and above.

When setting up the 3D, make sure to select "Micro Polarizer LCD 3D (Row Interleaved)". Also, if you choose to, you can enabled hardware acceleration in the main settings menu for video.

I tested out TRON Legacy 3D and it works really well. So ignore my previous comment in my other post about not being to play 3D blu ray movies, cos it can. You just have to use the PowerDVD settings itself.

It does also state that you can use Arcsoft TotalMedia Theatre 5, tho I have this, it does not have an option for 3D. So if you have this you might want to check first.

In addition, here is a link to AMD's PDF guide regarding getting the best out of the necessary software. They even list this monitor as one of their recommended monitors for 3D use: http://www.amd.com/us/Documents/AMD_HD3D_Setup_Guide.pdf

If you don't mind, could you describe the glasses you got to me? Writing on them etc.

Also, do you have any issues with ghosting which is reduced if you tilt your head 45 degrees to left?

Here is the first review I wrote in the Latest News/Offers thread:

I have this monitor (bought from elsewhere). Just arrived yesterday and I got to play with it for several hours.

It does come with 2 3D glasses: one normal and one clip on.

It uses the TriDef 3D software for 3D playback. It won't and I stress WON'T play blu ray movies in 3D, even if you have the likes of PowerDVD 10 and above. I have a copy of TRON Legacy in 3D and while PowerDVD can play it, it doesn't do it in 3D when you change it. Tho I read somewhere someone has been using PDVD10+ to watch blu ray in 3D so I will look into this more.

DVDs in 3D are not bad, but it does have ghosting issues. I put this down to the glasses from what I have heard from other reviews and such. So might be best to try the Zalman glasses people have spoken about (ZM-SG100G I think).

My other issue with the monitor is the OSD settings. I have it connected via DVI and when I select the 3D option it tells me this is not available. Which kinda sucks.

However, that being said, I think for an entry level 3D monitor for people not wanting to splash too much cash, it is worth it. I just hope soon, TriDef support 3D blu ray and blu ray movies altogether.

Also, for those wanting to use this for gaming, it does not do 120Hz. 60Hz is your max. But from other reviews I have read, people are saying the 3D in gaming is rather good. I won't be using this for gaming since a) my gaming PC still has a 4870X2 and b) I would prefer a slightly more expensive monitor for that. But we'll see.

Overall, it is good. Ideally you want to be sat a very good distance to reduce the ghosting and enjoy the 3D during movie playback and perhaps gaming (recommeded 50-90cm distance).

Hope this little "review" has helped. I am sure as time goes on I will enjoy the monitor more. I guess I was kinda hoping for something more.

i like 3D but if only the glasses does not dim the viewing

And to answer your question, they don't. I actually use the RealD3D glasses you get from the cinema. They work just as good if not a bit better than LG's one.

CK61938 I read your review and bought the screen, partially, as a consequence. It's pretty nice. I was wondering, firstly, whether you could seen horziontal lines on your screen really close up? And also, whether on skyrim you could see the cursor? It seems to be up on my screen all the time when in 3d. I can't seem to get the colour balance nice either but that'll take time I guess!

Ok, took the plunge and bought this monitor, not from Ocuk sadly, thought I would try the passive 3D on this before buying a more expensive TV. Will report back when I've tried it out.:)

CK61938 Are you insane or something ??
Maybe have a look in WRONG glasses topic before you say that you got ghosting. NO **** YOU GOT WRONG GLASSES.

With proper glasses there is no ghosting at all. Watched Terminator 8 gig rip last night. Not bad 3d at all.

To other people. Those monitors are good for 160f and 3d is deep.
I play atm:
Cannon Fodder 3 --- nice for 3d
Finished Postal 3 playing only in 3d. Seems 3rd person games look coolest
Finished Skyrim in 3d. Best looking 3d game so far Blows bf3 away
BF3 time to time. Explosions and stuff whit loud as **** sound. GOOD
Dead Island ----- 3D does not work good at all it sucks and makes game unplayable.
ATM I am playing Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning. GFX in this game is ****** but in 3d i get 40+fps maxed out and it looks good.

I had few 10+ hour sessions of constant gaming with no headaches. And i get one on my mates Nvision setup. Nvision does provide better experience and quality but 1h is max for me at least :(

2d well since i got it i only use it for typical internet use. Good enough.
Besides that dont connect it using HDMI. It limits fps to 24@1080p or 60@720

To GIBBO: Does OCUK got good glasses with their monitors or people need to whine to LG for pair of good ones ??

I saw no horizontal lines. Tho there was a slight flickering after I initially set the monitor up but that has gone.

As for gaming, I cannot say as I don't use this monitor for gaming at all.

Sorry what? The guy asked about the glasses dimming the viewing. Maybe try looking what I quoted before posting.

And by "proper glasses", please elaborate?

Much to my surprise my monitor was delivered today even though I hadn't paid for Saturday delivery. Very impressed so far, set up no problem, this is a great 2D monitor never mind 3D. Anyway played two of my favourite games, Skyrim and Fallout NV and I thought the 3D effect was excellent and very enjoyable. Even tried Tiger Woods 2008 golf game and thought that was pretty cool as well. The tridef software seems pretty good, however it wouldn't play Blu-ray discs but was ok with Dvd. Will continue testing and try connecting to my Sky box via HDMI tomorrow. I paid £129.99 for this monitor and I think its an absolute bargain.:D
