Last night was Bonus day, so I took my staff here for a celebratory dinner.

We all wanted steak and it was the first time we had been. When you think of Goodmans, think of British / American Gaucho. But with better meat!

Table was booked for 6pm, we arrived at 5.15 for drinks. The decor, is brown leather and wood, very elegant. The Bar is beautiful and very well stocked.
The First round consisted of 2 Glasses of wine, 2 beers and a coke - £32
The bar staff were chatty, friendly, unintrusive, and more importantly good looking

As we finished our first drinks we were shown to our table, and left for a few minutes to reuse the wine menu.

We ordered a 2008 Catena, Malbec, - £45
2009 Cline, Zinfandel - £28

I also had a glass of 2007 Château Lavill (Sautern) - very sweet.

The wine arrived without issue, and as we went through the menu, the waitress came up with a platter of meat, to explain the cuts. (i get bored of this)

For started I had the Seared Foie Gras, but skipped on the glass of Tokaji, as i had already ordered the Sautern. The Sautern cut right through the fattiness of the Fois Gras, which in its own right was superb.

The others ordered, Prawn Tempura x2 Lobster and corn chowder, and a beef carpaccio. Whihc on all accounts we VERY good.

Next The meat:

We ordered a:
600g Bone in Rib eye. (Mine) (£42) - Rare - 60 Day Dry Aged - USDA Certified
1000g Chateaubriand (for 2) (£110) - Belted Galloway 28 days
500g T-Bone x1 (£50) - Black Angus - 42 Days
400g Ribeye x2 (£32 each) - Nebraska Dry 28 day Aged

They we all pre carved in the kitchen at our request.

Sides ordered - £5 each give or take
2x Chips with Truffle oil
2x Salad - i know
1x Grilled Tomatoes
1x Creamed Spinach

The volume of sides was perfect and we all shared.
By then we had finished off the wine so we ordered a

2004 Château Mouline £75

We all polished off our steaks, and everyone agreed it was the best meat they had in a long time. The only better steak i've had in a restaurant, is Wagyu at the Ritz Carlton.

We were all too stuffed for dessert, so we has a round of port (Croft £52 bottle)

When i picked up the bill it came to £629.43 for the six of us. (12.5% service is automatically included)

Final verdict - RECOMMENDED will be returning.

Cripes that seems more expensive than Hawksmoor! Was wondering what they were doing with that unit down past Hazev's so interesting that they have put a high end restaurant over that side. Seems a bit out of the way from the main part of CW though.

IMo its better then the Hawksmoore, yup it the next unit down from Hazev, its a great location, as it within walking distance of the main estate, and not crowded. Give it a try

For the amount of what you had, especially seen as it included all that drink as well, the tab seems reasonable to me.

Were the steaks cooked to exactly how everyone likes it?

Its hardly out of the way...Its 5-10 minutes from most places in CW. It's also vastly better than almost everything on offer in CW in terms of alternatives.

I live in the building above it and it's packed pretty much every night i've been past, so the formula seems to be working.

The steaks were perfect, i had mine rare, and it was spot on!

We went to the Hawksmoor a couple of weeks ago... Goodmans City was going to be my second choice.

Will go there next time :) keep hearing good things.

BB x

That seems amazingly cheap, was expecting it to be a lot more.

I probably would have also had the 60 day matured rib eye, a good choice! Got any jobs going?
