Last night was Bonus day, so I took my staff here for a celebratory dinner.
We all wanted steak and it was the first time we had been. When you think of Goodmans, think of British / American Gaucho. But with better meat!
Table was booked for 6pm, we arrived at 5.15 for drinks. The decor, is brown leather and wood, very elegant. The Bar is beautiful and very well stocked.
The First round consisted of 2 Glasses of wine, 2 beers and a coke - £32
The bar staff were chatty, friendly, unintrusive, and more importantly good looking
As we finished our first drinks we were shown to our table, and left for a few minutes to reuse the wine menu.
We ordered a 2008 Catena, Malbec, - £45
2009 Cline, Zinfandel - £28
I also had a glass of 2007 Château Lavill (Sautern) - very sweet.
The wine arrived without issue, and as we went through the menu, the waitress came up with a platter of meat, to explain the cuts. (i get bored of this)
For started I had the Seared Foie Gras, but skipped on the glass of Tokaji, as i had already ordered the Sautern. The Sautern cut right through the fattiness of the Fois Gras, which in its own right was superb.
The others ordered, Prawn Tempura x2 Lobster and corn chowder, and a beef carpaccio. Whihc on all accounts we VERY good.
Next The meat:
We ordered a:
600g Bone in Rib eye. (Mine) (£42) - Rare - 60 Day Dry Aged - USDA Certified
1000g Chateaubriand (for 2) (£110) - Belted Galloway 28 days
500g T-Bone x1 (£50) - Black Angus - 42 Days
400g Ribeye x2 (£32 each) - Nebraska Dry 28 day Aged
They we all pre carved in the kitchen at our request.
Sides ordered - £5 each give or take
2x Chips with Truffle oil
2x Salad - i know
1x Grilled Tomatoes
1x Creamed Spinach
The volume of sides was perfect and we all shared.
By then we had finished off the wine so we ordered a
2004 Château Mouline £75
We all polished off our steaks, and everyone agreed it was the best meat they had in a long time. The only better steak i've had in a restaurant, is Wagyu at the Ritz Carlton.
We were all too stuffed for dessert, so we has a round of port (Croft £52 bottle)
When i picked up the bill it came to £629.43 for the six of us. (12.5% service is automatically included)
Final verdict - RECOMMENDED will be returning.
