I'm going up to Leeds Sat 19th of May and coming back on the Sunday with a few of my mates for my birthday. We're bored of just going out to town locally (Newcastle) and although it's probably no better it's a little more exciting to go somewhere you've never been before. We went to Liverpool in September and loved it.

I was just wondering where can you recommend we go? I've been to Leeds loads as my ex used to live there but I never went on a night out there so I know the city well but not where all the pubs/clubs are and the places to go.

The type of places I'd like to go around are:

Busy bars bit classier than the crap joints if you know what I mean.
R & B places (my mate likes that kind of music and well it tends to attract the nicest girls)
Dance type places

When I go out in Newcastle we tend to go to Revolution, Tup Tup Palace, Bijoux, Floritas, Madame Koo's, Perdu, Baby Lynch's and end up in Riverside etc or stay in them other bars so if anyone knows Newcastle & Leeds you know the type of places we like.

Any recommendations guys? I've driven past a place called 'Halo' quite a few times when I visited my ex which was a old church converted into a night club which looked interesting is it good?

Many thanks.

Keep heading north and hit the "TOON" (Newcastle)

Edit didn't realize Newcastle is already your local.

have a walk down call lane, some nice bars down there!

have a look what nights are on at space, warehouse, mint, stinkys etc.. on the date you come!

the bars are scattered all over town, but there is also ones up near the top, varsity, risa, players, tiger tiger (i myself arent too keen on these ones but i think they play R&B) but i suggest you get yourself to the electro/house clubs!

If by interesting you mean packed with smashed students in fancy dress then yes, very interesting. You need to be there early to avoid a massive wait.

I don't like many of the clubs, but then I'm old now.

Either go to the Calls or hit Greek Street for pre-club drinks.

If you are looking for a restaurant to go to, I highly recommend Fazenda at Granary Wharf.

I shall be back there next week in fact!

Just got back on Sunday from a night out round Leeds, stayed in Discovery Inn, went Bowling in afternoon and had a meal at Zizzi restaurant was okay nothing special then ended up on Call Lane, was good but the bouncers were idiots, only 5 of us went and they wouldn't let us in as a group so we had to split up never come across this around Wigan/Preston/Bolton or even Manchester, Neon Cactus was good, funky little place.

Never went in a proper club, tbh was not in mood at 2am had been a long day and ended up pulling so headed back to the hotel for 3am.

It all sounds a bit disappointing and small haha! I live in Newcastle but the change of going out in a new city will be exciting,

tbh I went Newcastle last year and was not really blown away by it but did go for a Friday night.

Problem is every town/city has the same generic clubs and bars are well just bars.

Consider a night out along the headrow, plenty of great places for a night out along there ...

You can start out with visiting Gregs for some grub. After that, you could perhaps try the next gregs just a 30 second walk away from the first. After that you will stumble across another fine establishment named gregs for more enjoyment on your night out. Carry on walking along, and it won't be too long before you reach another gregs! And then for your last spot to wrap up the fantastic night out ... You could try going to another gregs!

Plenty of pasty to smash with sausage rolls on a night out in Leeds, once you know the routine to getting all of the action you could ever imagine at all the fantastic resorts known as gregs.

We go out in Leeds a lot (went on Saturday) and I'll agree with Cheets, it's ridiculous for getting in places (unless you're a lad and lass couple) - especially Call Lane.

Even if you split into 2s, places like Jakes, etc. aren't having any of it on a Saturday night. We ended up doing Shooters, Bierkeller, Vodka Rev, Stone Roses + Cockpit which was good enough for us. We were going to do Wire but the que was massive.

I'll second the comments about Fazenda too, great restaurant.

Haha :D

And occasionally there are some nice hot girls patrolling the street in bakers outfits and signs that say gregs, armed with trays full of sweet cuppy cakes and sausage rolls. You should easily be able to chat one up, unless you fail at it like I did and accidentally drop your free sausage roll on the ground due to the cuppy cake in your other hand falling apart from having been sliced down the middle.

.... Wait, I mean, that was a nice way of getting the hot baker girls to bend over for some dirty sausage meat.

I have another date with LGI someday next week at 4 pm, so I will also try to remember to visit one of the 50 gregs I saw there earlier this week.
