I though it be good to stat a thread just to show us and everyone the case you got for the new iPad and how you rate it and the name of it. There me and am sure others who are stuck on what case to get as there that many out there..

For protecting my iPad when it goes in my work bag.

+ Fits the above brief
+ Handmade (good quality)
+ Materials (hemp fibre outer, soft wool-like interior)
+ Front pocket will fit a stylus (when I get one) and micro-fibre cloth (Spudz one)
+ Good fit (when inserted properly)
+ Squidgy

- has to be imported from USAmerica and took a while
- if you have a pet, like a cat, it collects hair really easily
- iPad has to be inserted carefully under the seams on both sides in order for it to slide in straight. If you just stuff it in, it twists the case and doesn't look 'right'

Conclusion:
Does what I want. Will be buying a proper compact stand (like the Twelve South Compass or Belkin Flipblade Adjust) to use at work as well, rather than a smart cover as I don't like them.

Thin, functional, easy access.

Cost - £5 + whichever smart cover you choose.

If I am feeling posh, I used this by TwelveTwelve. Around £70.

Right, ordered a clear back for my ipad and I got a smart cover yesterday as this is really the best way to go.

I can't see the point in getting something so thin and lovely and then put it in a thick ugly case :s

Just one thing I might have an issue with is my smart cover; it doesn't hold back very strongly when I open it and fold it back on its self so its flat on the back. The slightest knock makes it come loose. (this is the flap bit of the cover, not the whole cover/hinges)

Is this normal as it can be bit irritating the way I have been using it.

Received my rear-only Gelaskin the other day, and very happy with it.

Knew what to expect as the gf has one on her Kindle. Very robust vinyl that will protect from scrapes and light scratches whilst adding virtually no additional thickness or bulk to the unit at all. I'm basically paranoid about putting it down on any surface in case I get some dirt or grit trapped under it and scratch it so this means I can stop worrying.

It was relatively easy to apply although lining it up perfectly took a couple of attempts. Luckily it's easy to peel off and re-apply.

Had a couple of minor issues though. Firstly the cutout for the headphone socket was slightly off so I had to trim about a millimetre from it to make it fit properly. Secondly, there were very slight ripples or bubbles in each of the four corners, where the case starts to taper, but with a bit of perseverance and re-application with a touch of pulling/stretching, I've managed to get rid of these.

Try the rubber backed one. I don't notice i have it one with all the controls accessible and smart cover works, except the fact that i have more grip.

For the sake of £5, its worth a pun.

I think I might. For that price it will probably pay for itself when it comes to selling it on. A scuff free back side

Did you order it from stateside? I'm still pondering doing this, but the carriage charges will be a killer. Like you, I prefer to have the skin on the back of my devices, and Gelaskin stuff is superb imo.

What you experienced with the corners not adhering well, and rippling is normal. I've even experienced that using gelaskins on my iPad1.

Having got an iPad (3) at the weekend with the smart cover (red leather, yum!) and ordered the frosted gel skin for the back (thanks Raymond!) I think I will need something a little more robust for actually carrying it in eg. a rucksack.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a 'sleeve' type case or otherwise that I can fit the iPad into with gel skin and smart cover on it?
