Setup my new board today along with a 3570k and 16GB G.Skill Ripjaw x. All going ok through installing windows 7, but after updating the bios to the latest and installing some additional asus software, it just turns itself off every 5 min or so.

Have tried optimised bios settings, etc but I have no idea what the heck is causing it.

Think I found the issue. The top 6950 was pretty much resting on the bottom one which caused its fan to stop. Not impressed.

So looks like a thermal protection shut down!!

Well if you have card space issues it may be worth sending it back under dsr if you can and get a better spaced board for crossfire support

As hyperst said, get a full size ATX board so you can space the cards out.

If you decide to keep the motherboard then try wedging something between the cards so the top one isn't touching the bottom one.

Yeah I have put a small wedge between the cards for the time being and cranked u the fan speed for the top card.

Aside from that, it seems a lovely board and already running at 4.2ghz which combined with 16gb ram and a crucial m 128gb ssd is blistering quick compared to my old system. Windows 7 installed in 6 min ffs!

Sell the 6950's and go for 1 single powerful card? it's a nice board as you say and would be a shame to send back

Appreciate the comments all. I love my xfire, so will just try to stick it out and make things work. Would love to watercool them as it does look smart. See how things go!
