Casey Stoner to retire end of season

Well that's damn bizarre, what's gotten Stoner the moaner so cheesed off he's decided to walk away from the sport?.

He has a newly born baby doesn't he, not very old. I guess he misses being with his kid and his wife (who is mighty fine who wouldn't). And I dunno maybe the death of Marco had some impact? I think it would make me think twice about it.

I just find it odd, i mean, according to Twitter, his new sprog isn't one of the reasons he's suddenly decided to call it a day.

Oh ok, it claimed it was for family reasons so maybe someone is seriously ill? Not sure I don't have him on twitter.

Yea he wants time with his family supposedly, I think that's what was said at the last GP when it was rumored about his retirement, cant blame him really, as much stick as he gets he is still fantastic on a motorbike and still winning so its not like he has any other reason to leave.

And before people think Rossi is getting his ride, nope apparently it is going to Marc Marquez!

wow! Mind you... with a kid, and a wife as hot as his.. i'd be spending all my time with them also.

i think may be honda won't give him a bigger wage

but i'm sure he will still earn money from other ways even if he quits

He has more than enough money and doesn't strike me as the sort of person that is money mad. The amount of cars he won for fastest laps sell quite well I imagine :p

I'm a bit surprised but I'm struggling to find any interest in MotoGP at the moment. If it wasn't for Cal, I'd stop following it entirely. It's become mind numbingly boring.

It's come to something when I'm finding F1 more exciting.

I much prefer watching BSB or WSBK now.

They need to do something because I know enough people are getting fed up of it. I've never liked the guy, but If the racing could actually involve some close competition, then having someone as good as Stoner in it might make things exciting, and in that respect it's bad for the sport that he's leaving, but as it stands, I couldn't care less.

He said at the beginning of the season that if Dorna were going to continue to mess about with the rules and 'dumb down' MotoGP by bringing the rules and performance to within WSBK levels he would walk away.

Dorna have, and he has :(

i dont blame him really he said he has lost interest that and family pressure maybe time to move on i guess luckily he still has the oppertunity to do so.

Nope, can't be Marquez - the rookie rule prevents it.

This is true forgot about that, no wonder Honda are tying to get Dorna to scrap the Rookie rule :p they want him but if they cant get this rule scrapped then no idea who will take it.... ROSSI :D

Marquez will still have a full factory honda just like Marco Simoncelli did
its just what satellite team will he go too.

moto gp is really boring just now
we can just about expect who gonna win each round this year
stoner, lorenzo... pedrosa is always near the top but never seem to win

love the good old days where honda, yamaha, ducati and even suzuki has a chance on the podium

rip motogp
