Left 4 Liberty - GTA 4's equivalent to DayZ.

This mod looks awesome! I don't think its multiplayer but its very similar to DayZ, only instead of other surviving players there are Scavengers and Bandits controlled by A.I. They can attack you, or assist you by killing Zombies, the way the zombies work is awesome and so ingenious too, it just makes every pedestrian hostile, in the wounded state, trying to attack the player with their fists. As the game is standard, without any real modding, this looks incredibly a lot like real Zombies, and they don't run either!

I saw this, when I was looking for alternatives to DayZ.

I love the premise, but the ARMA2 engine just doesn't work, IMO. The scope of the map is brilliant, as is the realism aspect, but the combat is horribly clunky when fighting at close range, which you frequently are.

I reckon GTA could work, though, with a more inner-city walking dead approach. Needs to offer limited ammo though and low-survivability chance like DayZ to offer that "tension".

There's nothing at all saying that GTA IV isn't realistic, maybe not on the level of ArmA but it does do a lot of things right. Apparently this mod can be taken online!? All they need to do is introduce random gun/ammo spawns, water down the ammo supply and increase the Z count and it'd be good to go!
