HIS IceQ 7950 constantly running at 100% fan speed

Just fitted this last night and done a complete re install of Windows. Thought it sounded very loud at first but just put it down to the driver not being installed. Anyway, got Windows installed and then installed the latest version of the AMD drivers, card was still running at 100% fan speed. I went into CCC to manually adjust the fan speed and it just seem to stay 100% judging by the noise. CCC reports fan running at 33%, but this figure doesn't move even if you manually increase or decrease the speed.

It's plugged into an ASUS P7P55D-E Pro. Any ideas?

I kinda done that already, I used the HIS software though and it still stayed at 100%. Just spoke to Overclockers and they said to RMA it. Sucks, bought it so I would be all ready for GW2 - sods law! :(

Unlucky mate, I got the same card last week. Works brilliant and overclocks like a beast. It is a really good card and very quiet until you overclock it but even then its not too bad.

Well it's pretty loud at 100% ;)

No worries, if I can get this one sent off tomorrow then I'm hoping OcUK will get a replacement out to me before the weekend.

I've got the exact same problem as the OP! I bought the same card a few hours. Paid online last night and picked it up earlier today. I tried just reinstalling the driver, didn't help, tried doing a fresh windows 7 install, same thing...
Also like the OP - bought this to get the most out of GW2 which is out in a few days. :'(

Mine is doing the same thing!! I too just got the card yesterday. Does the card need to be returned then?

Wow, sounds like it could be a bad batch that Overclockers got! Any staff from OCUK that could check? If I bring it back tomorrow. I know it's not a huge amount but petrol costs me just over £2 per round trip and I don't want to go and get a replacement for me to only have to go back and get another one replaced again and again 0.0

I've received one today from ocuk. Also has the 100% issue :(

This is definitely an issue >_<

Yea if this is the case I would consider another card instead of replacing this one
Thing is, I actually wanted this card, it consistently reviews as one of the quieter 7950's out there... One of the reasons why I was so shocked by how loud it was 0.0

I received my 7950 this afternoon.. Excitedly set it up and was horrified to hear how loud it is.. Played around in iTurbo and msi Afterburner, tried changing the drivers, and the fan changed not one bit. Stuck on 3096rpm.... Guessing that's full speed!

I have the same issue. Just rang OCUK and spoke to a fella who knew all about it. Said he'd email me a returns number and I could swap it for a different card. Excellent service!

Currently out of stock. Hopefully it will have come back in by the time I get back from my hol. next Saturday!

a solution that works for some, is disabling "turn display off" altogether.

Edit: set it to disabled or anther number e.g. 1 min, restart pc after changes if their is no change in fans.

Think it happens when the sleep mode is set to 15 mins

Wow didn't think to check back at this post! I didn't realise so many people were having this problem. I'm all sorted now, ended up swapping the HIS for an OcUK 7950 which is actually an MSI 7950 @ 830/1250. Think I will just stick to reference cards in the future now. To the poster above me, no that wouldn't work as the fan is stuck at 100% even before you get into Windows.
