How did you manage to run dirt showdown? Lol. I had 25 fps single card, 25 fps dual card on the benchmark. That was on 304.79 drivers. You on newer betas?

Interesting how a 670 with 4GB uses less VRAM in the same benchmark than a 580 with 3GB!

Thats counter intuitive.

Just goes to show more VRAM is not always needed, just a more efficient use of what you have!

No plans just yet, but I have the option :)

There wasn't a lot of price difference between the 2gig ones I was looking at and as you can see from the above in excess of 2GB is used on some of the high res / eye candy benches and we cant be having that :P

That's because if there is a large amount of VRAM the application caches extra textures. It doesn't necessarily mean it would exceed 2GB.

Fair enough on the price - like you say: the option is there. On the benchmarks where you do genuinely exceed 2GB your average and minimum FPS are single digits or under 20. So to use the extra VRAM you'll need the extra grunt from a third 670.

Cheers all :)

Ive never has a problem with Dirt Showdown, what's the issue ?

Some were getting really poor frame rates.

Just reread your post,

It goes to show(IMHO) that 3 and 4 Gb vram cards are only of benefit when
you go 3 or 4 way Sli on surround of high res setups.

As you hit the Gpu wall b4 vram becomes benefical.

Good job I don't game at that res then :P

What in Surround? Even less reason to have 4GB cards. :p

Interesting benchmark though. Thanks.

They further solidify the claim for Kepler cards that 2GB is fine unless you're going Surround/3-way SLI.

Great benchmarking setup you made ! Now I too have something to compare with and its cool than I'm actually getting the same TriSli results in 1920x1200 :-D

Goodo - get some results up ;)

Hard to compare results with this layout :(

Really? Our brains must be wired differently as I find it extremely simple with this layout?

You forgot to compare temperature, still a great test.

Never mind :P and thanks :)

Thanks :D

Unfortunately with no real bench for BF3 it's not really a true comparison though is it?

A BF3 bench would be great and you've just reminded me I haven't played it since the 3rd card went in :)

Although definitely smoother and a lot more playable at high res / eye candy with the 670s opposed to the 580s :)
