So when buying a motherboard do you only buy from a certain manufactuer? Anything put you off a certain brand?

Personally all my desktop boards have been asus right back to the athlon XP days because ive never had any issues with them.

However the few gigabyte boards ive used have given me a lot a grief, however the cheapo bgrade one in my HTPC seems ok so far :p

Asus here as well, pretty familiair with their bios layout/features. One brand i wouldnt touch again is evga, due to their abysmal customer support. Their so called warranty service isnt worth the paper it's written on.

I normally go with Gigabyte as I've never had any problems with them unfortunately their new boards use the VIA chip for audio which is useless to me :(

So just ordered an Asus which I'm hoping fully works as it'll be the first Asus board I've brought that has lol

Used to be Asus, then I had to RMA an Athlon board and never got it back from Asus, so never again.

Used to always buy Abit boards upto when they exited the market, now I just buy either Gigabyte or MSI.

Heh.... I bought a board from overclockers ages ago which was an asus one the stupid thing wasn't even listed on their website for about 2 months they even denied making that model board!

Last Asus board I bought last year if you turned on AHCI on sata ports 5+6 they vanished!

Asus here as well.

Edit..I like corsair ram with asus boards as well, always seem to be good match between them.

On another note, will only buy evga graphics cards now due there good warranty.

Mainly Asus here too. But i've built a plethora of rigs using gigabyte boards.
Our current 6-core rendering rig is using an asrock x79 which has been very stable so far.
I've tried most makes, but tend to stick with those i've just mentioned.

I normally always try to get a Gigabyte if possible, out of all the motherboards I have used Gigabyte has never failed to impress.

Else I would just look around for a MSI/Asus.

MSI because I've never had a single issue. They are just rock solid stable.

Had a couple of asus and gigabyte boards fail on me with dojy onboard audio/network so wont touch either again.

ive used loads from gigabyte to msi to evga to asrock and now asus and tbh its all a bit of a muchness ive been in the fortunate position that ive not had to use any of the warranty services so cannot comment on them. Very rarely have I ever had a board that ive ran out of connectors on and when I have its normally been usb and when required all have clocked to levels that ive been happy with. The only one that has really stood out has been my recent sabertooth but thats for the looks and the new uefi bios although the later is a bit unfair as my previous boards were older than uefi anyway.

Used to really like A-Bit boards back in the day, but I've had plenty of Asus, Gigabyte and MSI boards too. I tend to look for Asus or MSI these days, they seems to be reliable.
