came home from work after a terrible day at work to find a box sitting on the table. my wonderfull fiance had bought me a birthday present 4 weeks before my birthday! RESULT :) i was over the moon.

after opening it it was an hd 7870 sapphire ghz edition. so i run up the stairs and opened up my pc. i installed it but a black screen came up. i moved the hdmi cable back and forth from the output on the mobo and the gpu. still a black screen.

i then removed the gpu and booted up the pc and it worked.

can some please shed some light on this before i turn into an axe murderer:confused:

Did the fans spin up on the card, and did the motherboard give any error beeps?

I would guess you didnt plug in the power leads.

spec.

i5 3570
z77x-d3h
8 gb vengence
700 coolermaster psu.

sorry for not being patient, but im sure you can understand its very frustrating lol.

yes power cables plugged into the card, fans were spinning and no bios. just a black screen.

when i took it back out for the first time i was able to get into the bios. i then turned off the onboard graphics.

put the cadr back in and ziltch.
