Though this might be worth a stab. I've got moderate hearing loss and about 10% eyesight in my 1 remaining eye. It doesn't stop me from building computers because that involves near-sighted work and I can do that ok. My sensory problem starts with objects more than 1M away, unable to recognise people, unable to pick up body language, crossing roads, missing platform alterations at train stations, hell I couldn't even learn lipreading or sign because of this.
So first of all, I was wondering if there are others on here who can share experiences and limitations. I think Bhavv has hearing loss like mine IIRC.
Secondly what did you do (or still do) for holidays? I'm talking Solos-type holiday where you meet new people. In 1993-6, I attended 4 RNIB holidays which were geared towards teens aged 14-18. They were perfect, met loads of friends, even had a GF on one of them. Towards the end of the 1990s, I was over-aged and the RNIB didn't do holidays for 18+, so sadly that ended. In my 20s, 1998-2004, I attended 7 similar holidays for the 17-40 age range ran by an independent company called Share Music. That ended after 2004 because they ceased most of their operations except for Northern Ireland.
So yeah, the other question was holiday ideas. I preferred the RNIB because I could mingle with my own disabled group where Share Music was across the board with many of them being severely handicapped and needed carers, and thus wasn't as good on the social front.
Thanks in advance
