I know I have gone over and used the free P&P but I can save him money right now by saying DON'T get MoH Bugfighter........the game is utter garbage. Consider the premium pack for BF3 instead even if you go for a cheaper spec.

The Z77 mobo is cheaper and will allow overclocking. As the ivybridge i5K is on offer this week it's literally a few quid more for much better tech. It also has a better IGP which lucidMVP and quicksync utilise. This RAM is faster at 1600mhz rather than your 1333mhz for again a couple of quid more

I've used the Merc beta before it's very very basic. The shinobi is better for not much more, added a modular PSU which helps improve airflow by you using only using the cables you need. These are luxuries, the mobo bundle I would definately switch

Lazder you are such an nvidia fan boi lol

It's not just the new drivers, the 7850s also overclock very well, the 660 doesn't. Your benchmark link only compares them at stock on god knows what drivers.

I would take my spec over yours all day long, hell he could sell the free games to get some cash back if he wanted to. We can argue nvidia CUDA support (again) but it's mainly used for video encoding and quicksync is arguably better than CUDA for that purpose. Using a Xeon CPU he'd lose the IGP and quicksync and lucidMVP support along with it.

Not trying to "lay into you", just explaining why it's probably not the best way to balance the build for essentially a gaming rig. Especially as you have gone even further over budget

FIGHT. Go on lads, take it outside. Lazder in the Green corner, hono in the red. Keep it cool and no OCing.:D

I'll take you all on lol Aren't you supposed to be tinkering with MSI afterburners OSD ;)

I am, still like to watch a good fight.;)

Going to try Metro 2033, if I can get into it, gave up last time iI tried, bit slow for me.
But, have about 50+ games to try it on, so will be busy for a while.
Also hope to get my system installed into the Antec P280( tomorrow) , that I got a week ago.

Are they allowed to use batterings RAMs with tall heatsinks on them? :p
Pffft Hono we'll all take you on ;) Me and my toothpaste fight side by side :D

I taught you everything you know......not everything I know lol Try and top my spec then "noob" ;)

You're all such a blatant ATI fanboi's, all you do is suggest ATI cards even when its obvious that a Kyro3D would be the better option.

Do I now? ;) I must confess I did feel an urge to go 3Dfx :P

I am not a fanboi, I am value for money type of person... 660 was released after 7850 and it carried similair price tag, so therefore it was made to combat 7850, therefore in MY mind it should be better than 7850, before 660 came out I always specced 7850 over 560ti.

I did mention that if he did not want to make use of IGP and overclocking..
I have 2700k and I dont make use of any IGP features.

"I would take my spec over yours all day long" a bit childish... I mean we all got our preferences at the end of the day

Stulid is taking the mick, continuing from the kyro3D post. I'm waiting to be called racist next for using white components lol Its all a bit of friendly banter we are all here to help each other I would like to think :)

As I said in the other thread we debated, spec'ing a custom rig means tailoring it to the users needs. The real trick is balancing the build to the budget.

I've used the merc beta. It rattles like a bar steward when the optical drive spins up. No real cable management and no usb3 ports also go against it.

The case and PSU will often "outlive" a GPU, so ideally I like to invest at least £100 for the pair if possible. Of course there are alternatives to my spec, stulid showed that should the OP hate my "white look".

I look forward to seeing what he settles on. We can then look to help him "tune up" the performance. He should be talking about heat sinks, to see if Santa hears and bring him one for crimbo ;)

HDD, large for lots of storage. Quad core CPU, cant go wrong with that. 8gb of RAM, self explanitory. A 750w PSU, should handle that. The mobo is low end but enough. Nice large SSD. Best value case. That gpu is very good value (charts comparison to 7850 http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/549?vs=555) Just a regular optical drive :).
