Good morning all,

Purchased Edimax 500mbps homeplugs. Plugged them in and all working great.

Switch off computer....come back to computer later on and the homeplug has switched itself off thus losing connectivity. I have to manually powercycle the homeplug to get it switched back on. The sister homeplug unit that is connected to the router always stays on.

As you can imagine most frustrating as I wanted to run an ESX host I am building for home off one.

Is this a problem or a "feature"? :)

Cheers!

There is a power save mode but apparently the power LED should remain on when it does this...Problem is when PC is back on the homeplug doesn't reactivate itself.

Opened up my second box of brand new powerplugs and the same thing happened when shutting off PC.

Anyone else got these? Any ideas?!

Enable WOL (or whatever your motherboard chooses to call it). That'll leave the network adapter powered and the Powerline adapter should know that something is still connected.

Enabled Wake On Lan - that worked.

My concern is, for example, will they behave like this on the PS3 or Xbox where you cannot use wake on lan feature. Guess I will have to test this.

I am going to ring OcUK tech support and get them to verify that other powerline adapters dont behave in the same way. Unless someone else on here can help me do that? :)

Update: tried it on PS3 and the powerline adapter behaves in same way PC did...HOWEVER it wakes up when the PS3 wakes up so that works fine then. I assume this will be the same on my xbox so will try that out too.

Must be the motherboard not waking up the NIC like other devices do hence the adapter doesn't switch itself on.
