Vibrate has become more rattly after installing Jellybean?

Hi,

Just wondering ... The above really isn't possible is it? Or has it happened to anyone else?

Whenever I get a text now the vibrate seems to make more of a rattly/broken sound than it did a few days ago and I don't remember dropping the phone (I would obviously remember this) ... All I have done is upgrade to Jellybean when it was released for O2 just a couple of days ago and that is when I noticed the issue roughly a day after that

EDIT: Has Jellybean changed the intensity of the vibrate or something?

Any ideas?

Sorry should have said ... HTC One X

Has anyone else with a One X noticed this?

I don't think they would have changed it, this is worse if you ask me, makes an odd noise

Most of the Android phones come with their vibration motors turned down in software for some reason. Maybe the new software lowers the intensity...? Just guessing, however.

It shouldn't rattle, though:p

Not so much of a rattle ... Just sounds different to before ... And if I did not upgrade to Jellybean I would be even more convinced that it shouldn't sound like that, just doesn't sound right. I am getting a new phone in July but I wanted this one to be perfect (as it has been up to now) as my Dad wanted it when I get a new one

Do you mean maybe the new software increases it? It is a possiblity

I will post a link to this thread in the One X thread to see if anyone else has this issue

Its weird you've mentioned this cos my S3 does it. Happened on wanam and now crDroid.

It starts vibrating as normal but then goes funny. I thought my phone was knackered but I guess not.

Really odd ... I am on stock ROM with my One X and it doesn't sound different at first then change, just in general since the Jellybean upgrade the vibrate sounds 'different'

Did you just notice it after upgrading too?

Hmmm slowly more and more people are posting here, thought it was just me lol

Happened to you guys just after getting jellybean too I assume?

I've been on Jellybean for quite a while now and it was fine in the past, it's only been on the last few builds that I noticed it. Probably something different in I9300XXELL4 and I9300XXELLA because I don't remember it on anything earlier than those.

Spoke to HTC ... They said that the first thing to do is troubleshoot the software as I said it only started happening after installing Jellybean ...

They told me to clear the cache partition:

Turn the device off.
2. Press and hold the Volume Down Key.
3. With the volume key held press and release the power key.
4. Use the volume keys to highlight Recovery.
5. Press the Power button to select Recovery.
6. Wait until the phone reaches a screen with a red warning triangle.
7. At the same time press both the volume up and power buttons.
8. Use the volume keys to select Wipe cache partition.
9. Press power to select Wipe cache partition.
10. Once the process is complete press the power button to reboot the phone.

Didn't do anything for me and they said the next step would be to do a factory reset ...

If this has not resolved the issue the next thing I would suggest would be to perform a hard reset. Please note performing a hard reset will delete all data stored on the phones memory please ensure that you backup your phones memory before performing a hard reset. Please note all text messages will be deleted please take note of any important messages that you may have.
To perform a hard reset please follow these steps:

please note to make sure that erase SD card is NOT ticket as you will lose every thing stored on the SD card you may also wish to unmounted the SD card and remove the SD card to ensure that no data gets deleted.

If using a One series phone please DO NOT tick any boxes as

Performing a hard reset
From the Home screen, press MENU, and then tap Settings.
Tap SD & phone storage > Factory data reset.

I haven't done this yet as I haven't had the chance, don't have time to sit and reinstall all my apps etc ... Not sure if I will lose them? Help advisor kept avoiding the question of "What will I lose?" by just sending me some guide on how to backup things. It does say there that paid applications are backed up to my google account ... So I assume I do have to reinstall them all again still

If that doesn't solve anything then they said (providing it is less than 2 years old) it is covered by the warranty and also gave me this info...

Should our engineers find that the fault you are experiencing is caused by physical damage, wear and tear, illegal software, illegal repair attempt, it will not be covered by warranty. Conditions of warranty also include warranty length terms from date of purchase. The repair will be chargeable and we will send you a quote via email. Should you not wish to pay that quote, there will be an approximate £25 diagnosis, shipping and handling fee to have the device returned to you and not repaired. Please note that we are unable to give any quotations/costs as the device will need to be seen buy an engineer before a quotation is issued.

So basically you send your phone off, they may repair it for free, if they believe you've caused the issue then they will send you a quote, if you think that's too expensive they will still charge you £25 just to get your phone back to you

Hmmmmmmmmm
