I am looking for a GTX680 (maybe a 670 if it is really as powerful as people say) to game at 2560x1440p to replace the HIS7950 I have currently. Not sure whether to go for 2GB or 4GB or which brand is best for noise, performance and temps?

(I dont want an ATI card, nor do I want a discussion on the issue either. I simply want recommendations of nVidia cards)..budget is around the £500 mark, cheaper is better, but quality and performance etc is more of a consideration than cost. (no Titans or GTX690s though).

I ran 2*680's and clock for clock compared to 670's, there was nothing in it and only fps counter would be able to tell the difference.

The Gigabyte WF X3 670 and the EVGA FTW are on 680 PCB's and will/should clock a little higher due to better cooling and one more phase capacitor.

I respect your request about AMD cards and on this, go for either of those 670's :)

Gigabyte Gtx 670 wf x3 and overclock it. £60.00 cheaper than the lowest priced 680, has an exceptionally quiet cooler, good overclocker and gigabyte have an excellent uk based customer service setup.

Running one myself and have found it to be a vey good card. Running a pretty high oc on it, temps never go above 67c on auto fan. Personally i think the 680 series are way overpriced.

I was running a single GTX 670 for all most a year fine. I onky just thought I would try SLI, and cant really tell any difference. Besides the FPS.

Unfortunately for you, the 7950 offers the best performance out of your listed cards at 2560x1440.

Kepler (GTX6XX) aren't too great at 2560x1440.

See above. I already own two 7950s. I don't like them or the myriad of issues I have with them, as I said this thread isn't about ATI v NVidia, but recommendations for my nvidia purchase. If you have no recommendations within those parameters then I am afraid you can't help me, although I appreciate your interest, thanks :)

Thanks.......What about memory, I run 2 dell 2713hm, but no multi monitor gaming.

I game at 5760*1080 and the 2GB of vram was man enough. When VRAM was over the limit, GPU grunt wasn't there either. For example:

Metro 2033 with all bells and whistles 17fps or less in places. This wasn't VRAM limited, just GPU grunt limited.

You can max out the VRAM with tons of mods in Skyrim but you would need a lot.

2GB is plenty and only go for 4GB if you intend on buying 3 of them.

A crystal ball would help for future games.

Using two 670 FTW cards in SLI on a Dell 2713HM. And haven't run into any issues so far, at 2560x1440.

Im running bf3 at 1920x1200, everything on ultra with x4 msaa all other settings on the highest available. Yet to see vram usage going over 1500mb. Cant see it getting an awful lot higher @2560x1440.

A couple of benchmarks to see how well the 670 fairs at your res :)

How recent are those benchies Greg?

Don't worry, I'm not starting anything. Just curious :)

Pretty irelevant question really, as they were posted to show the difference between the 680 and the 670, so Any driver improvements would apply equally to both cards.
