AMD FX6100 Overclock

OK, so in order to work towards removing a bottleneck on my SLI setup, I need to overclock my CPU from 4ghz to 4.4/5/6.

Currently, I can run the CPU @ 4ghz on stock voltage and cannot push it any further.

Knowing I need to change the Vcore, I upped the CPU to 4.4 and increased the vcore by 0.050 to 1.335 ish as per below.



The system booted and on running Prime95, I got the BSOD!

What should I be pushing the Vcore to in order for it to be stable, this is well out of my comfort zone and would prefer not to kill it.

I would start at 1.4V (+0.10 to +0.15V) and see how far you can push the frequency at that. Keep a close eye on temperatures as you increase the frequency. This should get you to 4.4 or 4.5GHz.

With good cooling, there is no reason why you cannot go up to 1.55V vcore on AMD however I am wary of exceeding 1.5V for benching and 1.45V for day to day usage.

Temperature wise you will get throttling of the CPU above about 65C. This protects the processor by lowering the frequency. Look to keep it at 55C max for gaming or 62C max for benching.

Thanks mate, I'll give it a try next time I boot/re-boot.

I don't really do much benching, only the one off to see if the o/c has made much of a difference.
