Upgrading my monitor soon, will my 670 cut the new resolution? I mainly play SWTOR, BF3, Crysis 3, Starcraft II and Farcry 3.

If not, get a second 670 in there or look at getting a Titan or wait for new cards to be released?

Rest of system cuts it.

Single 670 will give good results if you don't mind turning down some settings, dual 670 will nail anything you can throw at it... titan will be about the same as 670 sli but a lot more expensive

When are new cards coming? I don't mind turning a few things down and waiting for the new cards, since 670's don't seem to have moved much in price. Mine's the Windofrce and is still showing at £300+.

So better to throw £300 odd on a 670 with a view to upgrading within 12 months rather than £900 on a Titan and keeping it for 24 months at least? I've always preferred 1 single card over SLI etc.

If you have deep pockets, go for a Titan or wait it out for Titans smaller brother which should be out pretty soon.

Whilst Titan is roughly 30% faster than a 7970, it is in its infancy and I fully expect faster performance with maturer drivers :)

I don't mind spending on something that will last. With the lack of any major CPU upgrades on the horizon the money I would normally put there could go on the Titan. I'm still rocking i7-2600k on a P8P67 yet haven't seen any compelling reason to upgrade that combo.

Titan is the fastest single core GPU and with the 6GB, it will last a good while. When the time comes to upgrade, add another Titan.

Try your 670 on your new monitor first before spending £800 on a Titan. I have a single 2GB 680 that runs everything perfectly well at 1440p.

Single 670/680 most certainly does not run max settings at 2560*1440 in the more demanding games.

e.g. Tomb Raider, Crysis 3, Far Cry 3, etc etc.

Seems ok for me. I played through Crysis 3, Far cry and Tomb raider ok. I have used a single 680, 7950 and 7970 and all give good results at 1440p. Not as good as a Titan but perfectly acceptable.

I don't doubt you did but without an FPS number to go by what is playable to you may be too low to somebody else. You probably played Tomb Raider without TressFX and SSAA as well. Same with Crysis 3/FC3 - without any AA. 2 overclocked 7950s can only just about push average of 50-55 FPS in TR with SSAA on 2x so I don't think a single 680 is really getting that close to that. Crossfire scaling is decent in TR.

I will say that although the need for AA is reduced with a 2560*1440 monitor I would say 2x is needed more often than not to smooth the jagged edges. All subjective of course.

Running a 670 wf and the only game i have had to turn down settings has been metro. BF3 ultra settings with no aa. And bf2 with 32x aa set in the nv pannel 100fps locked lol

I don't use FPS monitors I just go by what looks smooth and plays well to me. Like you say it's subjective it may only be 40fps but to my eyes it's smooth and plays well so i'm happy. The OP might be happy too hence why I always say to try your current GPU first before spending out on new.

2 670's are pretty much identical in speed to a single titan... another £300 vs. £600ish after selling yours and buying a titan

a single titan won't outlast 670SLI imo because by the time games make proper use of more than 2GB of VRAM, even a titan will be GPU limited

and by the time 770 comes out you could probably still sell the 670's for the best part of £200 each and upgrade for around another £200 on top, which will then be faster than a titan and still for less money overall

and this isn't someone being down on Titan, I have 3 of them, but for 7680x1440, I have no other choice really - I'm half thinking of getting a 4th toward the end of the year

I didn't have any problems with 670SLI on a single screen so for me, an extra £300 for the same performance seems a bit of waste

however it is your money and if you want a shiny new Titan then go for it
