Hi guys. Just moved from a 560ti to a 590.
Having a problem getting Windows 7 (64bit) to load, I just get a BSOD before I even get to the desktop.
I can boot in safe mode, and have tried re-installing drivers. But can't seem to fix it.

The card should be running off the same drivers as the 560ti, I don't know why it didn't boot straight away.

What would you suggest I try? Whats the best way to clear out the drivers and start a fresh? Or could there be something else causing the issue which isn't driver related. Spec of my machine is shown below.

Hi Toothy

Uninstall the drivers in safe mode - Restart - Install the drivers after the restart.

Also you could look for a newer BIOS version to see if that helps stability.

Last port of call is a Windows reinstall.

Hope that helps.

Tried every which way to get it running, always the same problem. If any drivers are installed I get a BSOD during windows bootup.
So I have reinstalled windows, didnt install anything but the drivers, rebooted and I'm getting the same problem :(
What could be causing this?? I'm totally stuck

It's worth trying a different slot I guess. Hopefully my water cooling hoses will reach.

Yeah, it worked fine on the generic drivers. I can boot into windows once, then windows installs drivers for the card automatically, and then I get the BSOD next time it boots up.

Oh, I forgot to mention. I have also tried a different BIOS firmware. I was on the lastest, which was a beta. But have installed the latest non-beta driver. Didn't make a difference

I have an old ASUS P5B which it should work on, maybe? Might have to put the air cooler back on it though to make things more simple. It's plumbed into my current setup.

I will also check to power cables running to it. And try it in a different PCI slot, as was recommended earlier.

So after reinstalling windows numerous times, trying both x86 and x64 versions and drivers, nothing worked.
I took the waterblock off tonight and put the stock heatsink back on. Plugged it into my trusty old 775 ASUS P5B and it booted fine!!

So this leads me to thinking compatability problems with my Gigabyte Z77X-UP4. As the graphics card is a Gigabyte too, you thought they would have checked the compatibily between the two! Are there any known compatibilty issues with my motherboard and graphics cards??

I will also do some power supply swapping, in case thats the problem.

I have now powered up my pc with a separte corsair 750w PSU powering only the grahics cards, so am pretty confident the PSU is not at fault. Which leaves the motherboard.
Any help is greatly appreciated
