Even though my exchange is fibre enabled, openreach won't do my road side cabinet. -your cabinet fails to meet the commercial criteria ....Bloody typical.
Anyway, not to be put off, I persisted with e-mails and contacting people, and just got this e-mail this morning.

We have checked the situation with regard to your local roadside cabinet and I am pleased to confirm that it will be upgraded as part of the Superfast Cymru roll-out. It is scheduled to be upgraded between January and March 2014.
